After years of waiting, the development of the floppydisk has finally done a definite step forward. The hopeless try of pressing 2.88 MB of data onto one of the beloved and hated magnetic disks had failed and now iomega presented a hopefully successor to the market. With a tough media with 100 MB of space and speed, which is a multiple of a normal floppydrive, and additional features like passwordprotection and powersaving, the drive convinced in a complete way. Unfortunately iomega once more like most other firms had not thought about the existence of other platforms than WinPCs and Macs. The software bought together with the drive can directly be put into the trashcan (Attention: specialwaste!). Luckily there are some Amiga-enthusiasts who are compiling tools so that the Amiga-user can use the special features of the drive. A contribution to this is the Z100-package, which currently insists only in one application, but it had to be start somewhere. By the way I can check up the interests regarding this kind of software. You should know: No feedback --> No development In this sense I hope that I don't put my spare time into the sand and that it will show to me, that the shareware-concept is the right way. It may be a used one without a scratch. I like all kind of music except punk, heavy and folk ! Is there a cheaper way to get such a software ? I'm not refusing cash money of course - if you have no CD you can also send me money as an alternative. It is allowed to spread the program for non-commercial reasons. All commercial use, may it be on disk, cdrom or other electronical ways, need my explicit permission. The doublication via electronic networks like internet or locale bbs-systems is allowed as long as: a) it is looked after the interests of the author. b) the contents of the archive are unchanged. c) downloading the archive is free for the user. To not feed a misunderstanding: Such people called PD-dealer are definitely commercial and they need my written permission to copy my software. The software is presented to the users as it is, without any warranty of any kind, be it expressed or implicit. Anyone using this software agrees to incur the risk of using it for himself. Optionally there may exist a subdirectory called 'ICONS', where you can store alternative icons (e.g. MagicWB-Style). The internal graphics will be replaced by the external icons when you start the program. If you have painted a complete Iconset for the Z100-package, you may send it to me and I will put it into the next release. The size of the supported icons is 24x24. @ENDNODE @NODE "Installation" "Installation" Installation The installtion of Z100 is imaginable easy, because neither external commands, function librarys nor a tedious assign are needed. The included installerskript will normally find out the devicename and unit of your SCSI-drive automatically. In order to do this the drive must be switched on and it must be mounted. The skript will save those parameters into an ENV:-variable and also they will be filled into the tooltypes of the icons. Afterwards the software package will be copied to a choosen location on your harddrive. I appreciate to use the script because even experienced users may encounter problems when they install the package manually, which could be avoided by the usage of the script. The programs can be started by clicking their related icons twice. Some of the programs use the drive exclusivly, so launching those programs twice is not possible. In this case a warning requester will appear onto the screen. @{" " LINK "FrameZ100"} FrameZ100 V1.x @{" " LINK "SafeZ100"} SafeZ100 V1.x @{" " LINK "WatchZ100"} WatchZ100 V1.x @{" " LINK "GuessZ100"} GuessZ100 V1.x @{" " LINK "Dosdrivers"} DosDrivers @ENDNODE @NODE "FrameZ100" "FrameZ100 V1.x" FrameZ100 V1.x With this application you can easily copy the whole contents of a ZIP-disk onto you harddrive. The input format of the disk plays no part; you can copy amiga-disk as well as MSDos- or Macintosh-formatted disks. The graphical interface is selfexplaining and should not provide you with problems. You can access the password-function of the drive also. The only options are for sizing the readbuffers and switching the verify-setting. @ENDNODE @NODE "SafeZ100" "SafeZ100 V1.x" SafeZ100 V1.x This little utility is able to change the protection state of the disk. In addition you can lock the drive. This is possible by deactivating the Ejectbutton until you unlock the drive. SafeZ100 will show you only the possible function you can use on the currently inserted disk. For fast access it is reommented to put this program on a hotkey. This is possible if you have installed an utility like Toolmanager. @ENDNODE @NODE "WatchZ100" "WatchZ100 V1.x" WatchZ100 V1.x This little utility may be installed into "WBStartUp". After restart it is running in the background and checks the drive for a diskchange. If a changed disk is password-protected, a user-configurable program will be lauched (e.g. SafeZ100). WatchZ100 knows the some special ToolTypes: RUNCOMMAND - Path and name of the program, which is launched after a valid diskchange (disk must be password-protected). Normally /@{"SafeZ100" LINK "SafeZ100"}. CHECKPORT - If SafeZ100 (or a similar program which uses the Z100-Port) is used, this tooltype will surpress the upcomming requester, if SafeZ100 is already running. If WatchZ100 is installed into the WBStartUp-Folder, the tooltype "DONOTWAIT" must be activated. @ENDNODE @NODE "ToolTypes" "ToolTypes" ToolTypes In order to change the tooltypes of an icon, you have to activate the icon once and select "Icons/Informations" from the Workbench-menu. Now you may alter the tooltypes. As an advice, you should not simply delete unused tooltypes but you should put it into brackets. So you can easily activate the tooltype everytime and you have always the survey of the supported ones. @{" " LINK "Device"} DEVICE - Name of your SCSI-device @{" " LINK "Unit"} UNIT - Unit number of the drive (0-7) @ENDNODE @NODE "Device" "ToolType/Parameter DEVICE" DEVICE Here you can enter the name of your SCSI-device, which controlled the drive. Normally it is not necessary, because it should have been found out by the installerscript. The declaration of the name here has a higher priority. A change make sense when the drive is connected temporary to another controller. @ENDNODE @NODE "Unit" "ToolType/Parameter UNIT" UNIT Here you may enter the unit-number of the drive. Usually the number ranged between 0 and 7, while the external version of the drive only allowed the number 5 and 6. For more informations please refer to passage about @{"ToolType/parameter DEVICE" LINK "Device"}. @ENDNODE @NODE "CLI-Parameter" "CLI-parameters" CLI-parameters If an application of the Z100-package is started from the Command Line Interpreter (CLI), you can pass some parameters directly. You can also enter a question mark behind the command to list the available parameters. Mostly the parameters corresponds to the supported @{"tooltypes" LINK "ToolTypes"}, which are used from the workbench. @{" " LINK "Device"} DEVICE - Name of your SCSI-device @{" " LINK "Unit"} UNIT - Unit number of the drive (0-7) @ENDNODE @NODE "GuessZ100" "GuessZ100" GuessZ100 This little command is used by the Z100-installerscript to recognize the ZIP-drive automatically. It can only be used from CLI or as a part of a script. Perhaps there is somebody who need it elsewhere, so the description of its parameters follows: GuessZ100 CHECK/S,LIST/S,SET/S CHECK only checks the existence of the drive. It returns errorcode 0 for a valid drive and 5, if and error occured or no drive was found. LIST shows the parameters of an existing drive or an errormessage. New since V1.1: Output of all mounted Dos-drives and the device and unit of the last drive. SET is especially for the Z100-package. If this parameter is used, the program creates the environment variable 'Z100DEVICE' when a drive was found. This variable contains the unitnumber and the devicename and may also be used by other programs. If anybody may write software which will also use the drive in exclusiv mode, it would be nice, when those program also put up a port called 'Z100' and before that look after this portname to prevent collisions. @ENDNODE @NODE "DosDrivers" "DosDrivers" DosDrivers The Z100-package has additional dosdrivers to use disk from Amiga, MSDos and Macintosh-computers. To use the MSDos and Mac-Disks you have to install the filesystems CrossDos and CrossMac available at your local dealer. It is possible to access the images produced by FrameZ100 directly. In order to do this, three additional dosdrivers for the FMS-Device had been installed. If you haven't installed the FMS-Device on your system, you should get the latest version (currently V5.01) from Aminet/disk/misc/fmsdisk.lha. If you want to use the FMS-Feature you had to notice two facts. There had to exist an assign called 'FMS:' pointing to the directory of the images. And the image had to be renamed 'UNITx', where 'x' is the unitnumber of the FMS-Unit. @ENDNODE @NODE "Danke" "A Final Word" A Final Word... More it is an utility to decrunch archives those you get from internet and other sources. These files are packed mostly with LHA/DMS oder other archivers. But to decrunch files from the archives you must learn about parameters and functions of the needed decruncher. With Knack it is possible to manage crunching and decrunching of files only by using the mouse-driven interface. Knack uses MUI (MagicUserInterface) developed by Stefan Stuntz, so the user can easily change the design. The integrated online-help makes it easy to get information on every window and gadgetfunction. The archivers LhA, LZX, DMS and MUI are not supplied with the distribution. You should be able to get it from most local bbs or from an aminet-mirror. @ENDNODE @NODE "MegaNote" LINK "Mega/Note" Mega/Note - Cute little notepad Mega/Note (MNote) is a cute, little notepad with 99 pages. On every page is place for 6 rows with 24 columns. All settings such as window/cursor-positon could be automatically saved on exit, so they will be restored on next startup. It is possible to export data to printer/clipboard and import them from clipboard. The program is written in pure assembler. Font-sensitivity and localisation (WB 2.1) is implemented. MNote requires Kickstart 2.04. @ENDNODE @NODE "MegaBLZ" LINK "Mega/BLZ" Mega/BLZ - Fast Access to german Bank-IDs This software is only available in german due to it's meaning. If there are some people who need a localized version I may change this. @ENDNODE @NODE "MegaFish" "Mega/Fish" Mega/Fish - The Public-Domain-Manager is a complete replacement for the Tool Aquarium. (Aquarium manages the contents of the Free Distributable Library compiled by Fred Fish.) Mega/Fish is able to manage more than one library ! With it's help it is possible to find any program existing on the installed libraries. You are able to browse through the libraries just for checking out what treasures were sleeping in those libraries. @ENDNODE
