AARNIO" This is some good news for those of us with the genuine A2000 with the half meg memory board. Well, I guess there is also some bad news too ! The memory board makes the A2000 run slower because it inserts waitstates whereby the processor must wait, stands to reason really. However, the good news is, that at no extra cost, but with a steady hand, a glass eye and a wooden leg ( oh yes, also a soldering iron and the ability to count ) the A2000 owner can increase the speed of his/her machine by about 20%. On the back of the memory board which has the 512 K on it, there are six wire jumpers and the odd resistor soldered between connections. Identify the wire which connects Pin 9 on IC 16 to Pin 12 on IC 13. The wire should be unsoldered from Pin 12 of IC 13 and resoldered onto Pin 17 of IC 13. Its that simple ! Now the Amiga should run much faster and smoother, i.e. running tasks should not be slowed as much, if at all, by mouse movements or window updating. ===========> If you are unable to solder - please seek help <========== ===========> You can easily damage the board or components <========== ===========> if you are inexperienced in micro electronics <========== I have had this modification running in my machine for several months now with no problems.
