Simple quick step-by-step docs to load and save with SoundTracker2.6 ==================================================================== OK, here are the instructions to load, save, & play MODs with SoundTracker v2.6..... First off: I'll be adding these instructions to the ST2.6.lzh archived file, I'll also be adding my own Icon to the file for WorkBench users who hate to start programs from the CLI/Shell. Anyways, here goes: Obviously, load up SoundTracker2.6. Once loaded, click on 'DISK OP', it should change to the next screen (it might have a delay if you're multitasking on a slow machine). From the Disk Op screen, click on 'L MODULE'. Your pointer should turn red, don't panic, click on the 'DIR' field and the pointer will turn a more pleasing purple. Once you have clicked on the 'DIR' field, you must enter a directory. SoundTracker only loads from a device directory even though it will show the files of drawers. So type in the name of the Disk you wish to load the modules from (and put the Disk in before you type its name). Example name of a disk is- ROGDISK: (don't forget the colon), then press return. Click on 'L MODULE' again, your pointer should turn green, and it should give you a listing of the disk. Click on the Mod name of the module you wish to load. It will load the module as soon as you click on it. To save a module, first make sure that there is a name in the 'SONG NAME' field. The name there is what the module will be called when you save it. Just click on 'S MODULE' and it will ask you if you are sure (are you?) and then save. To play a module you have loaded, click on 'EXIT' on the Disk Op screen and that will return you to the main screen. From the main screen just click on 'PLAY'. To completely quit SoundTracker, click on the upper lefthand corner of the screen from the main screen. This is pretty straightforward stuff really, you could probably figure it out yourself, this is just to get you started more quickly. I will not be writing full documentation of how to make modules with SoundTracker2.6 because that would require a good deal of work (and someone has already done so). I haven't even bothered much to learn many of SoundTracker's features because all I ever use it for is to save in ST2.6 format so that I can use (and MultiTask!!) the Modules with Darren Schebek's wonderful AVSTI-player. Full documentation of AVSTI is included in its own archived file. .__ |__) _ __ GEnie: R.EARL4 | \ (_) (_/ Usenet: roger_earl@panam.wimsey.bc.ca _/ Sysop: FreeWays BBS (604)322-3266
