PC-Nag Ver. 1.2 For IBM PC, XT, AT, or compatible. Copyright 1993 by Progressive Products Have you ever forgotten a birthday? How about that anniversary or other special occasion? Well, you can put your brain to rest, PC-Nag has come to the rescue! This program lets you save reminder messages on your computer. Every morning when you turn your computer on you get reminded of things. Just like a spouse, but it costs less and in-laws don't come with it. You can have messages pop up every year, month, week, day, or every certain number of days. You can also make it show you the message any number of days (and times) before it occurs. For example, if your mother's birthday is on June 2, you would set a message to pop up on 6/2. But being reminded on the exact day of the event does not give a person much preparation. With our software, like any good nag, you will be reminded as many days, or times, before that specific date as you wish. But what if you don't turn on your computer until after all these reminders have passed? Don't worry, if you don't turn on your computer, PC-Nag just holds the message over to the next day. None of this hit and miss stuff that certain other software packages leave you with. Just as a bonus, PC-Nag comes with a year's worth of mostly humorous daily sayings. Only one per day, so it will take more than a year to read them all! Of course you can turn them off, for those who are easily offended. Enjoy! PC-Nag is a user supported program. We depend on your support to continue development of useful (and not so useful) programs. Register by sending $25 to: Progressive Products P.O. Box 1575 Paso Robles, CA 93447 Registered owners will automatically receive the next version of PC-Nag. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HOW TO INSTALL ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Setting up PC-Nag: ------------------ For hard disk users 1) Create a sub-directory on your hard disk. (Example: C:\>MD NAG) 2) Change to that sub-directory. (Example: C:\>CD NAG) 3) Copy contents of your PC-Nag disk onto the sub-directory. (Example: C:\NAG>COPY A:*.*) 4) Set up PC-Nag by typing SETUPNAG [Return]. (Example: C:\NAG>SETUPNAG) At this point you have two options. 1) Put the name NAGME in your Autoexec.bat and in your Path. If this seems foreign to you, your best bet is #2. 2) Type MOD-AUTO [Return]. (Example: C:\NAG>MOD-AUTO) This sets up PC-Nag so as to appear every time you turn your computer on. You will also be able to run PC-Nag from any directory on your hard disk by simply typing NAGME [Return] at the DOS prompt. Note on examples: You type after the > symbol. The C:{stuff}> is what you will see displayed. Also, remember to push the [Return] or [Enter] key after each command. Secondary note: DOS prompts may vary depending on how your particular system was configured. Trinary note: You probably know all this stuff. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- WHAT'S NEW ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There have been two changes since version 1.0. Briefly they are: 1) Archive option added. 2) Search option added. Archive Option ============== After a message has outlived its usefulness, and you go to delete it, there is now another choice. Archive it! This will delete the message from your calendar and place it in a text file called: ARCHIVE.TXT. This is useful for messages that contain phone numbers, addresses, or anything that you might want to look up sometime in the future, but that you don't want glaring at you every day. Search Option ============= A search option has been added in the Edit Message section. This allows you to search your entire calendar for a certain word, or phrase. Bug Fix ======= The screen color is no longer altered at exit. Daily sayings toggle has been fixed. Note: Once the sayings status is toggled, it is necessary to re-run PC-Nag to activate selection. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- THIS IS SHAREWARE ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You probably obtained this program from a shareware distributor or a bulletin board system.
