A small compact program written to write a nifty little log of 
when your computer is booted up.

The author, George M. Cheney makes no warranties or any other
representations as to the usefulness of Cenboot for any purpose.  
I am not responsible for  damages to equipment, loss of time, loss 
of data, or any other loss resulting from the use of this program. 
Anyone using this program does so at their own risk.  While the 
program has been thoroughly tested, I make no representations as 
to the performance or fitness of this program for any useful or 
un-useful purpose declared or not declared. 


INSTALLING CENBOOT: 

First is the question of where to put CENBOOT.EXE Actually you can 
put it almost anywhere you want to. <Grin>  It needs to be put 
somewhere on your C:\ drive, in your path  A good place is your 
dos directory or your utilities directory.  


RUNNING CENBOOT: 

Cenboot is meant to be run from your autoexec.bat.  It will write 
a nifty little log of when your computer was booted.  I suggest 
you put it at the end of your autoexec.bat after all the path 
statements and such.  The correct syntax for calling cenboot is:

CENBOOT C:\DOS\BOOT.DAT
       ^
NOTE THE SPACE!  You may enter any valid path and filename with 
extension.  Remember that dos file names must not contain more 
than eight characters, followed by a period and a three character 
extension.  C:\DOS\YOURNAME.BOOTLOG will not work...

The output is straight formatted one line ASKII and can be read by 
most word processors, including EDIT that comes with dos 5.0.  
From time to time you may want to erase the data file so as to 
conserve disk space.  That's all there is to it, enjoy!

NOTE:
You may test the output from the command line and then add it to 
your Autoexec.Bat if you wish.




LICENSE: 

Cenboot took me about three hours to write.  I saw a need and put 
something together to fulfill that need.  Cenboot is freeware. I 
hope that this is of some value, and you enjoy playing around with 
this program.  Please feel free to distribute it freely as long as 
the original archive with this document is included.

Cenboot was written using QuickBasic version 4.5 (Copyright 
Microsoft) on a 386 with four megs of memory and a SVGA monitor.
I was in a dos window running Windows 3.1 at the time.  Since 
there are no special libraries or other out of the ordinary 
procedures Cenboot should run on almost any machine.  If you 
experience problems I would appreciate your letting me know about
