
======================SUPPLEMENTARY NOTES========================

(1) The WindowDOS screen-timeout feature may conflict with some
    print spoolers and telecommunication programs.  The only way
    to determine if the timeout feature is compatible with your
    spooler or telecommunication program is experimentation.

(2) The screen-timeout feature does not work with some types of
    color graphic (CGA) cards.  It does work, however, with the
    IBM EGA board!

(3) To call up WindowDOS in memory-resident mode on a Tandy 1000
    computer, press <Ctrl> and the Zero key on the numeric keypad.

(4) NEW FEATURE:  WindowDOS will now rename a volume label.  To
    rename a volume label, place the directory cursor over the 
    old volume name and press R (for rename).  Then type the new
    volume label and press <Enter>.

(5) AUTO-SENSE EGA FEATURE: WindowDOS will now automatically recognize
    EGA cards and adjust itself accordingly.  For the vast majority
    of EGA cards, it is not necessary to use the G switch described
    in the WindowDOS manual.  For some EGA display cards, including
    the AT&T and Paradise cards, you MUST load WindowDOS using the G
    switch.

    To determine if you MUST use the G switch with your EGA card,
    load WindowDOS without the switch and call it up in various
    display modes (such as SCREEN 1 or SCREEN 2 in BASIC). If the
    program locks up or does not work properly, then you must use
    the G switch when you load WindowDOS.

    If WindowDOS works on your EGA card without the G switch, don't 
    use the switch.  The advantage of using WindowDOS without the G
    switch (when you can) is that WindowDOS won't use any extra memory. 
    
(6) CHANGED FEATURE:  The WindowDOS COPY and RENAME commands have
    been changed so that they will not copy or rename system files.
    This prevents the system files from accidentally being deleted
    or moved from their fixed locations as the first files in the
    root directory.


(7) NEW KEY:  You can now enable and disable the screen timeout
    feature by pressing <Ctrl> T from the main directory screen.
    If the screen timeout is current turned on, pressing <Ctrl> T
    displays "DISABLE SCREEN TIMEOUT? (Y/N)."  Type Y and press
    <Enter> to turn the screen timeout off.  If the screen timeout
    is currently turned off, pressing <Ctrl> T displays "ENABLE
    SCREEN TIMEOUT? (Y/N)."  Type Y and press <Enter> to turn the
    screen timeout on.  (Note:  The <Ctrl> T sequence is ignored
    when WindowDOS is run as an execute-only program.)

(8) NEW KEY:  When you list a file using List, WindowDOS examines
    the first 2048 bytes of the file to discover whether or not
    the file is a Wordstar formatted file.  If a Wordstar file
    is detected, WindowDOS translates it into a readable format.
    This detection process can sometimes fail to identify a
    Wordstar file, and at other times, incorrectly identify a file
    as a Wordstar file when it isn't.  To handle these cases, we
    have added a key that toggles between the Wordstar translated
    listing and the untranslated listing.  To switch between these
    two modes, press the <F1> key while looking at a file listing.



(9) NEW KEY:  Pressing the <Tab> key at the WindowDOS directory
    window now displays the parent directory of the current
    subdirectory.  This makes pressing <Tab> equivalent to putting
    the cursor over the "dot" entry and pressing the <Enter> key.
    This key provides an easy method of moving to the parent
    directory on a Novell network.

(10) HERCULES & MONO DISPLAY CARDS: We have found that some Hercules &
     Mono display cards set the cursor value in the BIOS area to the
     color-cursor format. This causes WindowDOS to change the cursor to
     the wrong shape when WindowDOS executes. To fix this problem, we
     include a program called MONO-CUR.COM on the WindowDOS disk. If
     you run this program once before loading WindowDOS, you will not
     have a problem with the cursor. MONO-CUR.COM sets the cursor type
     to the correct mono value. If you want to check the BIOS area
     yourself, load DEBUG, type D 40:60 and press <Enter>. If the first
     two bytes shown are 07 06, then your mono card is storing a color
     cursor in the BIOS area (who knows why?).
