Once the outdial number has been selected, the Tymnet access number will be dialed and an attempt will be made to logon to the selected outdial and dial the BBS telephone number of the entry. Also see : ^Outdial Selection^ Press [Esc] to exit Help. *E *B 4,Outdial Selection OUTDIAL SELECTION This menu choice allows you to select up to 10 outdial numbers to be included in the Tymnet logon string for automatic logon. The current dialing directory is displayed. To make a single selection, use the cursor keys to highlight the desired entry or enter the number of the entry and press return. The Tymnet number will be dialed and an attempt will be made to logon to the selected outdial and dial the BBS. Selecting an outdial will enable the Tymnet access menu selection for manual operation. *P You may select up to 10 entries from a directory for a dialing queue for automatic operation. Enter the numbers of the selections in the Dialing queue, separated by a space. Press return to end input. Invalid selections will be ignored. ALT-S will toggle the sort display between BBS and OUTDIAL. You can then dial the selected bbs by using ALT-B. This will send the Starlink dialing string "D ###-####" to the outdial. This is most effective when in manual mode and calling additional bbs's in the same outdial. ALT-S will toggle sorted display between BBS and OUTDIAL. Supports ANSI sequences if ANSI.SYS or equivalent driver is loaded. No upload or download capability exists. ALT-E -- toggle Full/Half duplex mode. ALT-H -- will hang up the modem, if connected. F-10 -- will exit and return to main menu. You may also Load additional directories as needed. The one parameter that STARDIAL keeps fixed is: V1 - (Enable verbal result codes). Note that if you enter STARDIAL while online, the modem initialization string will NOT be sent to the modem. When you Select an outdial OR make a selection from the Stardial Directory, the BBS number is stored to be sent by ALT-B. ALT-C - Bring up the Command summary from anywhere within STARDIAL. *P ALT-D - Display Dialing Directory ALT-D will display the Stardial dialing directory where you can select an entry to be dialed with the ALT-B command. This is especially useful when you are connected to an outdial and want to call another BBS in the same area. ALT-E - Toggle local echo and LF on/off while in terminal mode. If the characters you enter are NOT visible on the display, press ALT-E to toggle the local echo on. If you see double characters when you type, press ALT-E to toggle local echo off. *P ALT-H - Drop DTR to disconnect call in Terminal mode. An attempt will be made to disconnect the call by first dropping DTR and secondly issuing the modem hang up command "ATH0" to the modem. ALT-J - Shell to DOS Stardial will shell to DOS where you can run an external protocol or manipulate a file or directory. When you wish to return to STARDIAL, enter 'EXIT' at the prompt. PLEASE NOTE! If you are still connected to a remote BBS when you shell to dos, the connection will be maintained. However, be aware that most BBS's will disconnect the call if a keystroke hasn't been received in a preset period of time. *P ALT-L - Toggle Capture file on/off. STARDIAL will look in the default directory for a file called STARDIAL.CAP and append data to the file. If the file is not found it will be created in the default directory and a message will flash indicating CAP ON. All ascii data coming from the modem will be recorded in the capture file. Pressing ALT-L again will close the file or the file will automatically be closed when ALT-X is used for exit. ALT-M - Send userid:port;password for manual logon. Selecting an outdial port inserts the port number into a string that is sent to the modem when you press ALT-M at the 'log in:' prompt. *P ALT-P - Send Tymnet Password to modem in Terminal mode. When you need to enter your password manually, press ALT-P and your password will be sent to the modem. ALT-R - Redials remaining items in the Dialing Queue. Only effective from Main Menu. ALT-S - Toggle Directory Sort Parameters The current sort key (BBS/OUTDIAL) is highlighted in the dialing directory. Use ALT-S to switch between keys. Display will be updated. *P ALT-T - Toggles the port parameters between 7E1 and 8N1. If your Tymnet node is at 7E1, STARDIAL will switch when connected to a BBS. In manual mode wait until you get a CONNECT message from the bbs and then press ALT-T. ALT-U - Send Tymnet User Name to modem in Terminal mode. For those occasions when you need to enter your Tymnet userid, press ALT-U and it will be sent to the modem. ALT-X - Exit STARDIAL with confirmation. Opens a confirmation window. Press to exit STARDIAL. This does NOT hang up the phone line unless the /d parameter was specified in the command line. *P FUNCTION KEYS F1 -- Open a context sensitive help window from anywhere within STARDIAL. F10 -- Exit Terminal mode and return to the Main Menu. You may input up to 200 entries in each directory. ESC will end the input session. Use the cursor keys to highlight the selected directory entry. Press return and the entry will be deleted.
