ST henge is the product of many hours of work, obviously. I feel it is the best I have ever done. I would like to thank my friends for their help and input. To David Hagood (hey-good) the most for his help on the project. And his many ideas on fleshing out an animation which started by me saying one night "I'd like to do an animation of a drone flying across the Stonehenge object" to which the reply was "If you want to do it right I have a suggestion......" He allowed me to use his MEGA 2 and hard drive for the bigger compilings. We scribbled object paths on placemats in a pizza resturant for the rough draft which had the camera sitting in one spot and rotating, then moving the camera along the same path. Then I had the inspiration that is the current paths, move the camera along its own path individually from the drone (now called HULL) and just keep pointing the camera at the object. The name HULL is a mistake, I tried to make a model of the Titanic the night I got CyberSculpt, I used the bend function twice, then tried to "straighten" out the bent object, it didn't work. What happened was I had this object that looked kind of like a punk rock robot with a "Gigerish" head (H.R. Giger designed the creature from "ALIEN"). I liked it but people kept asking if the head was a puff of steam, creativity bit the dust. Also I need to thank the person who created the Stonehenge object, it was included with the original CAD 3-D 1.0, I used to own the program but I donated it to a user group auction. If that human (or otherwise) would write me with the info I would be more than happy to give them credit where credit is due. The base animation fits on a 1 meg machine, but when I added titles it pumped it up about 50K-75K. Let me say that animations that waste a lot of memory just flipping the title screen up or bring the first frame up are making people leary of downloading them. The two offenders I have in mind (and I am not saying they are bad animations) are Red Rock Canyon and Bob the Blob. BTB can be cut from 158K to 73K by cutting out all the titling and putting it on one screen with the body of the animation, I know, I tried it. Krusk is improving but when he made RRC he was pulling teeth to make it. There were two things he could have done to make it easier. I made an animation called CONTOUR just before he released RRC (mine still exists in only a few machines). I just used the fractal generator written by Tom Hudson and created 2 20*20 fractals with water running completely along one edge. This will take the longest, I spent about 20 minutes here. Go into CAD 3-D or CyberScuplt and stretch the objects until they nearly fill the universe. Put both river sections together and you have your valley. Next open all three views and then double click on the rotate icon. You should see crosshairs at this point on all three windows. At the top of the active window will be three numbers, click in the windows where you want your object/camera to go and write down the numbers. Feed these numbers directly into the DEFPT funtion in your CyberControl code. The numbers won't be exact but with a spline they don't have to be. I spent about 2 hours on CONTOUR. That includes 2 compilings one solid, one wire, the top half of the screen on the solid one was pasted on to the wire frame one. It looks pretty good and is about twice the length of animation of RRC. The latest Krusk animation I have is HOLE IN ONE which is an improvement over RRC. If any of this is old news then I apologize, I don't have a phone so I don't keep up on the latest developments via BBSes. This is going to be sent to Atari Explorer, and then Compuserve. I also need to get a copy to certain others who have requsted it. I want to thank most of all Tom Hudson whom I have met and talked with, I think he has done (is doing) as much for our machine as any Tramiel and deserves the support of every ST owner on the planet. Well I did't intend this to be long winded but this file will arc nicely. Watch for my future releases; STroller, LANDSCAPE, Laserskull 2, KICK, TIE (as in fighter), RHINO, THANK YOU, and a 1meg version of STHENGE. Later days, Ambush Bug (S.C. Harmon) 9th and Main BBS 316-221-3276 24/12/3
