BBB:Turn Backward, O Time, in they flight by Dr. Peter S. Ruckman From Time Magazine of 1933 we find these "interesting" items: 1. "This Sunday Pius XI {THE POPE WHO SIGNED A CONCORDAT WITH ADOLPH HITLER} will reopen the `HOLY DOOR' while Cardinals do likewise at the basilicas of ST. JOHN LATERAN, ST. MARY MAJOR, AND ST. PAUL WITHOUT THE WALLS. In solemn, robed procession, the Pope will move from the Vatican to the front portico of St. Peters. Thrice {not "three times," beloved, but "thrice"!} he will knock with a golden hammer on the Holy Door. Within, SAN PIETRINI {St. Peter's workmen} will lower the door away. The Pope will pray while prelates sprinkle the aperture with HOLY WATER. Then all will enter, KISSING THE DOOR JAMBS as they pass. Thereafter the PUBLIC may enter through the year." That didn't come from 1000 A.D., or 1200, or 1400, or 1700, for that matter. That is what Adolph Hitler's buddy was engaged in, in 1933, when Roosevelt was inaugurated President: kissing doors, sprinkling "holy water," and pretending THAT ST. PETER LETS YOU INTO THE "HOLY DOOR." That's Catholicism at its BEST. And what was this superstitious egomaniac telling his priests in America in 1933? "Father Coughlin claims the backing of Pope Pius XI, who has said that `every minister of holy religion' {his own: the rest aren't holy} must throw himself heart and mind into the CONFLICT FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE" (April 10, 1933). 2. (July 17): "Scot MacDonald, Prime Minister of England, invited Professor JOHN MAYNARD KEYNES to lunch. They discussed the `Keynes Plan' to devaluate all the world's currencies between 20 and 33%. This would permit PAPER MONEY to be issued against basic stores of gold, and this `money' would be used to promote PUBLIC WORKS and cover treasury deficits. PROFESSOR KEYNES declared that PRESIDENT ROOSEVELT is `magnificently right' and called his message {to get rid of your gold and replace it with paper!} `a challenge to us to decide whether we propose to read the OLD, unfortunate paths {Jer. 6:16!!} or to EXPLORE PATHS NEW TO STATESMEN AND TO BANKERS." Recognize the line? Remember the doctors in Abe Lincoln's day, recommending WHISKEY as good medicine for "diphtheria" due to the "VAST STRIDES in medical science"? So what's new? Keynes bankrupted ENGLAND (1945- 1960), so their best income was from drug traffic. Keynes bankrupted HITLER (1939- 1945), and the German people didn't get their gold back until 1970. Keynes bankrupted the UNITED STATES (1965-1985), and she is now $3,000,000,000,000 in debt with a paper dollar that is not even redeemable in COPPER. It takes a COLLEGE PROFESSOR to fix things up right. One other ingredient: it takes some dumb, stupid sucker who is looking for "something for nothing" to abandon the "old paths" and "boldly step forward" into the future with "progressive positivism" to open "new vistas" of blah, blah, blah, blah. Result? BANKRUPTCY. 3. From February 27 we see how Swaggert and Bakker "got into the act." Here is the original Charismatic "star." Here is the original "full Gospel," baptized "IN the Spirit," tongue- speaking nut who believed you could lose your salvation. What is she doing? Just what Bakker and Swaggert and Goreman and any other 80,000 Charismatics would be doing: LIVING IN THE FLESH. After faking being kidnapped so she could spend a week with a boyfriend, Aimee Semple McPherson, the woman preacher (who preached in evening dresses) dumped her missionary husband (Semple) and a grocery clerk (named McPherson) and married a man named Hutton. She swooned and cracked her skull after learning that he was being sued $5,000 for a breach of promise to marry a Pasadena nurse. The nurse won the suit. The woman preacher died at 58, "after years of litigation involving MONEY GIVEN HER BY HER SUPPORTERS." 4. "Pope Pius XI has elaborated in many a pronouncement, denouncing Communism, rejecting Socialism. Pius XI has come out for: minimum wage {he never worked a day in his life}, old age pensions, private property, government REGULATION OF BUSINESS {i.e. Communism}. Without attempting to promote these ideas by direct political action, and without reducing them to concrete proposals, Pius XI offered them to the world as SUPREME ECONOMIC WISDOM, DIVINELY INSPIRED, AND BACKED BY THE SUBLIME AUTHORITY OF GOD'S EARTHLY VICAR" (April 3). (We quoted it verbatim as Time printed it, with the exception of the parentheses.) A bachelor wino professing to be divinely inspired in telling Europe and America how to set up their economic systems is as hilarious as Laurel and Hardy trying to set up a computer network. The Pope's SHOWPLACES for economic "know-how" are Central America, Cuba, South America, Mexico, Spain, Italy, and South Ireland. Imagine the "head" of those populaces (ALL SEVEN OF THEM ARE ROMAN CATHOLIC) giving us "supreme economic wisdom"! Ain't that the cat's meow? So here we are up in 1989. What's "new"? NOTHING in any newspaper or on any television network. The clowns still think that paper is "money." The clowns still think the Pope is a spiritual Christian. The clowns still think he is intelligent. The clowns still think that Welfare States are the best forms of government. The clowns still support Oral Roberts and men like him to the tune of $4,000,000 or more a year. The clowns still say "baptized IN the Spirit" instead of "BY" the Spirit. The clowns still have confidence in women preachers, or men who look, act, and talk like women. SO WHAT'S NEW? The clowns still think that college professors have brains. The clowns still follow their advice. The clowns are just as goofy today as they were in 1933, or 1943, or 1953, or 1963, or 1973, or 1983. Have you heard the "latest"? The "latest" was in print more than nineteen hundred years ago: IT WAS PRINTED IN A BOOK (Eccl. 1:9-11). All the clowns are not in the circus; they never were. America is a circus without a tent. No amount of information or dcumented historical facts has ever converted a clown into anything but a clone. It is as proper and acceptable to reject truth today as it was in 1000 B.C. or 900 A.D. or 1400 A.D. Turning the clock backward only shows one thing over and over and over again: it shows that light rejected becomes lightning, birds of a feather flock together, the bigger the belfry the more room for the bats, use big words and people will think you know what you are talking about, people enjoy being fooled, people will pay to have their ears tickled, the greatest impostors on earth are religious leaders, and "IF YOU BRAY A FOOL IN A MORTAR AMONG WHEAT WITH A PESTLE, YET WILL NOT HIS FOOLISHNESS DEPART FROM HIM" (Prov. 27:22). Time Magazine was just as misleading and archaic in 1933 as it is today. It recommended foolishness, wickedness, hypocrsy, and disastrous courses of action THEN exactly as it (and its twin sister Life) does NOW. You can rely on it like you can rely on a tissue paper parachute.
