Welcome back to the MK 3 FAQ (George) MANY more moves and MUCH better descriptions will be coming in the next few days, I just wanted to get this out to you guys as quickly as possible. There should be alot more by Thursday morning..... %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% % NEW STUFF OVERVIEW % Things that are brand new to this update! %%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Better character descriptions Stage descriptions More moves Some more game play info Rumors section added %%%%%%%%%%%%% % GAME PLAY % How does the game play in general. %%%%%%%%%%%%% The game plays alot like MKII but there is now one more button!! They've added a RUN button. So far I don't know of any special moves that directly involve the RUN button. Each player has the normal MK energy bar, it's now blue and turns red as you take damage. Under the energy bar you also have a little green bar showing how much RUN energy you have left, however this quickly regenerates as soon as you stop running. Also, after you each have chosen your characters, while the game is on the VS screen, there are six little boxes at the bottom. Each player controls 3 boxes. By pressing LP,Block,or LK you cycle thru pictures in each box. Not sure what this all means yet but here are a few of the pictures that you can get: MK, lighting bolt, peace symbol, picture of Raiden, skull. I'll have more on these in the next FAQ. The game now displays info when you get a combo. It displays the info like Primal Rage. 4 Hit Combo 35 % Damage I've seen a 7/42% and a 5/49% combo already. Air juggles seem a little easier to do in MK3. Standard MK style notation will be used in this FAQ. F = Forward B = Back U = Up D = Down HCF = Half Circle Forward (B,D,F) HCB = Half Circle Back (F,D,B) QCF = Quarter Circle Forward (D,F) QCB = Quarter Circle Back (D,B) Blk = Block RUN = Run ? = I've seen the move but don't yet know how to do it. All characters still have the standard uppercut, punchs, kicks, jump kicks, etc. %%%%%%%%%%%%%% % CHARACTERS % Their descriptions, moves, fatalities etc. %%%%%%%%%%%%%% There are now 14 (so far) playable characters in MK3. The player select screen is laid out in a 5 across / 3 down format, making for 15 possible squares. But the character in the center square does not appear to be playable so far. Random character selection is the same as MK II, Up and Start. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- *********** * Shindel * *********** Description: Shindel is Shao Kahn's Queen. She is played by Lia Montelongo. She is scantily clad in purple. She has long, flowing white hair with a black stripe down the back. Shao Kahn's Queen was killed in the Earth Realm long ago. She was reincarnated when Kahn took over the Earth Realm. Known Moves: Yell (holds victim) F,F,F,HP Float B,B,B,HK Diagonal Down Fireball HCF,LK Fatalities: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ********** * Sheeva * ********** Description: Looks like Goro's daughter. She has four arms and wears a red outfit. Really nasty looking face. Fights with what look kinda like big crowbars. Played by Richard Divizio. Fatalities: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ************ * Sub Zero * ************ Description: Much different looking. No mask and now wears more of a blue suspender type outfit. Played by John Turk. Ed Boon comments: "There's a reason why he's no longer wearing a mask, and it's connected his relationship with one of the new characters, the Cyber-Ninja." (Cyrax?) Known Moves: Ice Shower QCF,HP Ice Clone QCB,LP Slide ? Fatalities: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ********* * Sonya * ********* Description: Blonde hair, green outfit quite similar to the old one MK1. She wears green, black, and white spandex. Played by Kerri Hoskins, the Playboy model who played a cheerleader in NBA JAM and starred in Revolution X. Known Moves: Energy Rings QCF,LP Leg Throw ? Square Wave Jump ? Upward Bicycle Kick B,B,B,LK Fatalities: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ******** * Kano * ******** Description: Kano's new costume is a mix of red and black. He's got a metal belt and sash. Played by Richard Divizio, the same actor who played Kano in the original MK. Known Moves: Flying Roll Hold LK 3 seconds Knife Throw QCB,HP Knife Uppercut QCF,HP Fatalities: Rips their skeleton out thru their mouth. ? --------------------------------------------------------------------------- *********** * Stryker * *********** Description: SWAT team sorta guy, wears a black cap worn backwards and a red outfit. Fights with a baton and throws grenades. Known Moves: Baton Throw F,F,HK Grenade HCB,HP Fatalities: -------------------------------------------------------------------------- ********** * Sektor * ********** Description: Red colored robot guy. Known Moves: Heat Seeker Missle HCB,HP Straight Missle F,F,LP Teleport Fatalities: ------------------------------------------------------------------------- ************* * Nightwolf * ************* Description: Native American guy. Played by Sal DiVita. He's a very nontraditional Indian. He's very modern, his costume is very cool. Known Moves: Shoot Arrow HCB,LP Hachet Uppercut HCF,HP Green Shield F,F,F,HK Fatalities: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- ************ * Kung Lao * ************ Description: His costume is quite similar to the old one, but his vest is more like wide gold suspenders. Played by Anthony Marquez he's the same one who played him in MK2. Known Moves: Hat Throw B,F,LP Teleport D,U Diagonal Down Kick D,HK in the air Fatalities: --------------------------------------------------------------------------- %%%%%%%%%% % STAGES % %%%%%%%%%% Better descriptions of the stages will be added in the next few days. Soul Chamber: This looks similar to the old Portal stage. It has statues of the floating monk dudes from MKII. There is a large statue of an open monster mouth with greenish wispy smoke curling up in it. The smoke looks like there are "ghosts" in it. Boonyard: A graveyard with a bunch of tombstones. Four of the stones have some interesting names...... The Pit 3: A bridge with low spike walls. Floating green lamps in the background. The Subway: You're down on the subway tracks in the depot. There is a sign on the back wall that says: <-- Boon Tobias --> 300N 600E The overhead lights are flickering on and off. And another neat thing here... you can uppercut and the other guy and he gets smashed up into another level and you follow! The Bank: Red Carpet on the floor, you can see out the windows. Rooftop: Cityscape in the with a large tower in the very back with red swirling gases circling the top. Is this Tobias Tower? Beran Balcony: Green glowing pit off in the background. Larges statues to the far right & left. Goskie Bridge: Cityscape in the back. Newspapers and other litter blowing in the wind.... the windy city? Mikicich Temple: Fighting in a church? There is a large stained glass window in the back with the MK Dragon Logo in it.
