V2.00 ~~~~~ Elysium Editor Gold Information: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What is a 'Full Screen Editor'? - Well chances are you already have a very good idea of it. You may well have used one while connected to a IBM BBS? The idea behind this editor is that it has to appear and appeal to the user just the same as a normal 'home editor' would. Who is EEGold made for? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EEGold is NOT a editor specifically designed for SysOps. It has been totally designed for USERS. By 'users' i am referring to the ONLINE source that will be connected to your system. Why Users? ~~~~~~~~~~ A User is only interested in entering a message or replying to it in the quickest possible time within the nicest possible surroundings. EEG will allow all of this along with providing the most user friendly controller that any full screen editor has ever seen. If YOU the SysOp wishes to enter mail then forget using this right now - While you can enter messages within it (even by using a HOME-CALLED Editor) you should be using the ElyCon Message System rather than this! What's the best? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ EEGold has been made totally for users. It has been designed to be the BEST and APPEAR to be the best. In tests in at over 18 BBS Systems over a six month period EEGold has proved to be the most popular editor to users than any other. We will be keeping up this advantage over all other editors from the user point of view. Why no FULL manual on this program? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For the simple reason that the USER will not get any! Its for the users right? Explore the program just as a user would! You will see that various help levels will be displayed to the user if he/she so wishes for them. * Setting Up the Editor * ------------------------- FSEDIT should be copied to your STARNET: or PARAGON: directory. A program called ElySig is contained within the Elysium draw of the master disk. This is the 'Signature Editor' which we will also be installing. NOTE : ~~~~~~ IF you have downloaded this version then you should do the following : copy FSEDIT Elysium:ElySig -------- With our advanced Signature Editor it is more easy for the 'users' to use than with any other editor. You have the 'Signature Editor' from a MENU and when entered it will only allow them to Edit/Design there own signature. Have something like this from the main-menu (along with other menus) Text from within your menus (put whatever you wish) ------------------------------------------------------ [A] Signature Editor. ------------------------------------------------------ From Within your Menu1.menu file... ------------------------------------------------------ Option 'A': Function MultiRunDoor Elysium:ElySig end ------------------------------------------------------ Edit the following file : Elysium:Config/SysOpName.CFG to contain one single line of text that is your own name. --- Cut ----- Andy Grifo ------------ ElyCon Notes : ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You will notice that within ElyCon is a reference (in the menus) to 'Internal' or 'External' Editor. This is for SysOp use. If you have the setting set to 'Internal' then when you call the editor from within the BBS you will be taken into it as per-normal. If, on the other hand - you chose to the 'External' then you will be taken inside of the preferenced custom-text editor. In most cases this would be 'CED (CygnusEd)' to which you would editor/save your message. Signature Editor ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Signature editor should be setup as mentioned above. Users will then drop into the 'SigEditor' from the menus that you place the option on. When inside they will be able to ask for more information and (of-course!) edit their signature. If a Signature exists when they have written a message within 'Elysium' then whenever they SAVE the message (CTRL+Z) it will ask if they wish to APPEND their Signature. This has proved to be the best method rather than have them spend precious time inside of various menus looking for a key-press in a vain attempt to stamp-down a signature! You should try and have a 'Edit Signature' option from most of your menus. Remember that you are calling 'Elysium:ElySig' and not the FSEDIT program! Turbo-Mode! ~~~~~~~~~~~ Elysium is now the fastest Full-Screen editor in the BBS world (from a user-connect point of view) We have now also taken this a step further in that if the user is working on the Amiga then chances are he will be able to use Turbo-Mode that will speed up all screen-displays. Ncomm is the best to use with this. JRComm may now be fine in the newest versions but it has still got a few buggs within its Ansi-Modes.
