3/13/90 After many hours of research and work, I have created a TV Sports Basketball league comprised of some of the greatest teams in college basketball history. Using the NewZap file editor, I was able to edit the heights, jersey numbers and player ratings to make the rosters more meaningful and realistic. The ratings, heights and jersey numbers are based on the excellent book "College Basketball's 25 Greatest Teams" and my own observations and memories of the players. REMINDER: Only copy the "tdat", "rosters.prt" and "seas" files on a COPY of your Reel 2 diskette. The following college teams are included in the league: 68 UCLA Bruins (featuring The Big A) 54 San Francisco Dons 72 UCLA Bruins 53 Kentucky Wildcats 67 Houston Cougars (featuring The Big E) 59 Cincinnati Bearcats (featuring The Big O) 73 Notre Dame Fighting Irish 63 UCLA Bruins 77 Kentucky Wildcats 87 Oklahoma Sooners 75 Louisville Cardinals 60 Cincinnati Bearcats 82 Houston Cougars (Phi Slamma Jamma) 80 Indiana Hoosiers 73 North Carolina State Wolfpack 83 Georgetown Hoyas 73 Maryland Terrapins 61 Ohio State Buckeyes 74 Indiana Hoosiers 76 Indiana Hoosiers 81 North Carolina Tar Heels (featuring Jordan NOT Jordache) 86 Indiana Hoosiers (all right, I'll admit I'm a native Hoosier and an IU graduate) 79 Michigan State Spartans (featuring Ervin Johnson when he was just Sleight of Hand) I've also included three college all star teams: Indiana Hoosiers (who else?) North Carolina Tar Heels Ohio State Buckeyes which are comprised of some of the best players to ever hit the hardwood at those schools. For you purists, I left the Cinemaware team in tact. 8) Finally, I created an all-time NBA all star team for those of you who, like me, occasionally want to kick the computer's ass. Please be forewarned that I assigned my own ratings to all the players on the teams. You will NOT BE ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY MODIFY THESE ROSTERS using the Edit Teams utility within TV Sports Basketball. Some players actually have negative overall ratings on their respective teams. This happened when the players aggregate ability ratings totaled more than 32. For example, I think Oscar Robertson has a rating of 37 which is a ranking of -4. (for you RPGers, maybe after their rating reached a certain level they should simply be classified as "LO") I've also enclosed a small text file which indicates each home team's jersey color. Useful information for anyone wanting to create their own teams. My next project is to do something similar with the NBA. Look for it in the next few months. If you find yourself in a giving mood, a small ($5) contribution will be accepted. Otherwise this stuff is considered freely distributable as long as this text file accompanies the other files.
