Space Hulk Demo instructions 17/08/93 1. Put your Space Hulk demo disk in your internal disk drive and turn your Amiga on. 2. Bypass the loading screen by using the left mouse button. 3. Load Space Hulk by clicking on 'Start New Mission' on the mission select screen. 4. The Imperial Commander welcomes you and explains the basic mission plan. Left click after every sentence and then move to the detailed mission briefing. Using the map of the Hulk that appears on the left of the screen, the Commander goes through the initial points of deployment, objectives and pick-up areas for the victorious squad. Left click to the end of the briefing. You are now transported to the Space Hulk. 5. Only one of the view screens is active. The view gives you the display from Terminator number 1 (note the number in the top left of the display). The letters next to the Terminator tell you what weapon he is carrying. The Terminator in this mission carries a Storm Bolter (SB) and a Power Glove (PG). Left click on the Freeze Time On/Off button to bring the game out of Freeze Time and into Real Time. When the game is in Real Time everything happens at it's normal speed. Example: A Genestealer that becomes "frozen" by the use of the Freeze Time can thunder down the corridor towards you during Real Time. 6. Control the Terminator by using the mouse or cursor keys. As you move the mouse pointer to the edges of the View Screen it changes into a directional arrow indicating the possible command - to move in that direction left click. Using the mouse control move the Terminator down the corridor to the door. As you move, watch the Scanner in the lower left portion of the screen. The brown blip is the Primary Terminator. As you move, so the Scanner follows your progress through the Hulk. 7. Press the UP cursor once to open the door. Practice turns and walking backwards to get the feel of the controls. Notice the scanner in the left of the screen moves as you do. 8. Move the mouse pointer into the centre of the View Screen. The arrow changes to a cross-hair. left click and watch a from your Storm Bolter shoot off down the corridor and explode against the wall. Move your Terminator back to the original starting position. Left click on the Freeze Time button. 9. Right click on the scanner to go to the Planning Screen. Left click on the Move icon (top left) and left click again at the end of the corridor you're in. The program decides the quickest route, red arrows show the movement you have constructed. Using this screen it is possible to program the Terminators with other commands. From top left; Move - Initialises the Terminator for movement Turn - Using left and right mouse buttons, the Terminator can be made to turn. Fire - Using this button it is possible to fire your selected weapon. Open/Close - Using this with left and right mouse buttons will open doors. Number of shots - Selects how many times your Terminator will fire. Terminator select - This tells you who you are commanding and the weapon he is carrying. Order phases - Indicates the commands you have given the selected Terminator. Range of fire - This will give you an indication of where your Terminator can fire to. Switch squads - Used to switch between squads in multi squad missions. Cancel command - Cancels the Terminators last command. Go - Gets the Terminator moving. Freeze Time - This button switches between real and freeze time. Freeze Time bar - This bar tells you how much planning time you have available. Strategic map - This map gives you an overview of the whole Hulk. 10. Once you have your Terminator programmed, use the right mouse button to return to the Action Screen. Click on Freeze Time to return to Real Time and watch the Terminator carry out the programmed moves. 11. Locate the item in the Hulk and pick it up using the right mouse button. 12. Destroy the statue and prepare for the Genestealers. Take care not to become too trigger happy or you will find your gun jamming. 13. Return to the entrance, closing the door behind you by clicking on the right side of the door with the right mouse button. Congratulations! You have completed the first mission.
