                                  Release Info

This *EARLY* public beta version of Henry Michaels is a very cut down version of
the  real thing. There are known bugs, there are lots of features not yet added,
and some stuff like the configuration program is operational, but  not  included
here. All in all, this is a rude public release of something still in early beta
testing, so expect it not to work at all.

                                    Features

   ·  Supports AmiTCP and compatible TCP/IP stacks.
   ·  Should operate on any IRC network.
   ·  Uses MUI for a user friendly, advanced and configurable graphical
      user interface.
   *  Seperate simple to use configuration program, BearConfig.
   ·  Nice ASCII logs of public messages.
   ·  Supports unlimited number of users in user database.
   -  File server functionality.
   ·  255 access levels and 255 file access levels for total discretion
      over what users can and can't do.
   -  Both bot and configuration program are fully localized.
   ·  Messaging system to get to those offline wimps.
   ·  News system to keep your users up to date on stuff.
   ·  'Seen' command to find out when a user was last on the channel.
   -  Aminet find functions.
   ·  Powerful database functions - keep lists of FAQs, EMail addresses,
      URLs etc.
   ·  Totally configurable bot commands - name, access level etc. are all
      up to you.
   ·  Bot commands can be internal commands, ARexx scripts or custom
      commands (Custom commands not fully developed).
   -  Also works as a client - you can talk to the channel or induviduals
      trough the bot.
   ·  Simple to use vote system - decide the "XXX sucks!!" debates once and
      for all.
   ·  Doesn't require other IRC clients to work - 100% standalone program.
   -  Connection point for DCC chats - if you need to hold a meeting but the
      IRC network is too lagged.
   ·  Flood protection.
   -  Shithead list to avoid wasting CPU-time on low-lives (part of anti-
      flooding mechanism).
   -  External "plugin"-interface - you can write your own modules for it if
      you want.

There will of course be more features added as suggestions come in and work goes
on.

                                   Known bugs

Oh yes, there are plenty. Most noticeable is that you will ALWAYS get an error
9 on the first attempt to connect to a server. Because of this and other minor
bugs in the TCP/IP-code, it might be slow connecting to the servers.

I promise you that this program contains errors, and knowing  this,  you  assume
all  responsibility for anything that happens to you or your system. Unarchiving
the archive with Henry in means you accept this. If you don't like this,  please
delete the archive and any files you have extracted from it.

This early demo version may NOT be distributed in ANY form other than Aminet and
public services such as BBSes. No CDRoms or coverdisks yet, this will be allowed
in the final public version.

NO part of this readme file  or  the  Henry  demo  archive  may  appear  on  the
Microsoft  network  (in any incarnation) or any other Microsoft-controlled media
(fortunately, the Internet isn't completely controlled by them yet). This is the
way it is - I do not negotiate with terrorists.

                              Distribution Policy

Henry Michaels is Copyright İ 1996, 1997 by Rune Jacobsen, and may only be  used
as  outlined  in  this text (and eventually the Henry.guide). Henry is freeware,
which means that you don't have to pay me to use it. Public domain libraries may
charge for copying and media, but not for the program itself.


                                   Last Words

Learn to program and do your best to develop quality Amiga software. I may  have
failed, but I did my best. We need stuff. Do not let yourself seduce by the dark
side - when the war against Microsoft starts for real, we need  each  and  every
person we can get.
