WINCATCH 1.0 DOCUMENTATION (C) Ruud Dingemans 1994. WinCatch is Amiga Freeware. Use and copy it as much as you like. No payment is involved of course, but I don't take any responsibility whatsoever if it crashes or blows up your computer (due to a slight oversight on my part) or if you pop a vein in the wrong place (because it can be @#$@!! hard to win sometimes). WinCatch may not be sold commercially or as a part of PD games compilations. This little Workbench game is freeware but would be more aptly titled being "IrritationWare" ;) I made it just for fun, trying out ACE BASIC, and it seemed simple enough to implement, even for a no-good BASIC programmer like me =8) It turned out to be quite irritating to play, as the last chance to win the game always seems to elude most people. Simple as it is, it has a certain way of making you want to try again. So I decided to dress it up a little with a better GUI and release it into the public domain as freeware. The purpose of the game is very simple: after the countdown, just try to close as many of the little windows as you can with your mouse. Ten is the maximum here. The more windows you close, the higher the score of course - but be careful you don't click on something you don't want on your Workbench window. After playing, the game closes itself after about five seconds, (provided the main window is active, that is) or you can quit yourself, by clicking the main window's Close gadget (above left, for those who don't know...). In both cases, a requester will then pop up, giving you the choice of actually quitting and getting on with doing more useful things or trying again. WinCatch was made with David Benn's superb easy-to-use ACE BASIC compiler V2.3. If you're a BASIC programmer and want to make nice standalone executables with Intuition windows et cetera, get this - it's freeware and has some really nice options, even for experienced assembly or C programmers, who can incorporate their code in ACE programs. Wincatch was tested on an A2000 with Kick 2.x and an EGS Spectrum card, 68030 and 68000 CPU's, with Kick 1.3 on the same machine, and an A1200 with FastRAM. So it should run on most Amigas, but it may be a tad slow on some 68000 configurations (hey, it's only compiled BASIC you know... ;) Anyway, have fun with it.
