Bytehunter brings you SuperPutty CD-32... Released 02-JUL-1994 -------------------------------------------------------------------------- !!! DON'T DELETE THIS FILE! IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION !!! Well sorry for not releasing this fix earlier, but the included program MemRun was a major one... The fix itself was done in less than two days. If you only have chip memory this game will reset your computer and then immeditely launch the game. DON'T PANIC! This game should run on any computer with at least 1 MB chip and 512 KB of any kind. The game has been playtested for a long time on my ordinary A1200. I detected that the hiscore list didn't work, but this isn't nothing to cry about! The game doesn't crash and since the game never saves the hiscore list to disk i decided not to fix this. !!! IMPORTANT: BEFORE RUNNING THE GAME !!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Copy MemRun to your C directory. This file must be found after reset, alternative you can enter the complete path to this files in the game script file. NOTE: Not needed if you have fast memory and uses the CHECKFAST option. DON'T REMOVE MemRun from the script file, if you do so the game can't be started. QUICK GAME CONTROLLS -------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you wait for a while then a demo appers and you will see how to play the game. Dropping of aliens are the most difficult move so i think i will try and explain this important move. When you have picked up an alien and carried it to their flying saucer you should drop it off in the entrance. To do so you should pull your joystick down and QUICKLY press the button, then push joystick forward. Is that all to hard for you? No i don't think so... INFORMATION FOR FASTMEMORY OWNERS ONLY -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Starting this game now will do as almost any other CD-32 / HD game does. It will simply start the game and hope that all memory used are not occupied by the operating system or harddrive drivers/buffers etc... So if you like to do it in a little more system friendly way then you should remove the CHECKFAST option from the SuperPutty script. This will allocate all memory that the game uses. Most likely a reset will be initiated and then the allocation will take place. Some people might find this reset a bit annoying, but since the game loads directly after no loss of time will be noticed. About PHUN -------------------------------------------------------------------------- After downloading the PHUN release of this game i was excited to run the game, but it didn't work! Well what do you do then? Just simply fix the game! I started looking at the game and realised that PHUN never touched this one! Disgrace! But hey, if they hadn't released this game then i wouldn't have gotten my hands on it, and so on... About MemRun -------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the big one! Especially for all you out there with a A1200 and no fast memory! With this program you can get all the games that need a lot of memory to run with a simple mouseclick! If you already have a game where you need to boot your computer with no startup-sequence and then start the game, then you know how hard it is! Some games even require that you replace the startup-sequence with the game script file for getting it to work... I will not describe the procedure to use for getting those games to run, i'm too lazy for that right now! Try and ask any experienced Amiga owner! I think that he can figure it out... Hint: Use switch RESET... Options for MemRun -------------------------------------------------------------------------- SCRIPT (MUST ALWAYS BE SPECIFIED) Script file that will be executed after the rebooting of your machine. ALLOC Enter here all segments that the game uses but doesn't allocate. This requires that you dissassembles the game and check it out, if you can't? Then use switch RESET instead. Switches for MemRun -------------------------------------------------------------------------- SELECTOR Do you have important this happening in your startup-sequence? Well then add this switch and run selector from the startup-sequence, after all important stuff, but not to late if you are low on memory. This means that you must copy selector to C or enter the complete path in your startup- sequence. KILLFLOPPY Use this if the game doesn't use any floppy drives. KILLINPUT Use this if the game doesn't use any system input. SCRBLANK Use this if the screen gets fucked up. NOCACHE Use this if the game can't be run with cache on. ZEROVBR Use this if the game assumes that vbr is set to zero. RESET Use this on all games that you can run if you reboot your system and execute the game script! It's still system hostile but at least the games will run! (Alternative to ALLOC if you don't know how to use that option)
