The Invictus Team:
Our team is located in Eastern-Hungary, more closely in the city of Debrecen and
founded by Akos Divianszky and Tamas Kozak in 1993. Formerly (since 1990) we had an AMIGA 500 mostly
used for playing (especially action-adventures) and learning. Until 1993 the greatest we made was a 'Winter Demo' for the pleasure of our friends, and later a game for the local TV-station.
Then came the AMIGA 1200 & AMIGA 4000, you now... Another World supressed us very much, but that time we didn't even
thought about making an own game. Afterwards another great game: Flashback was born but it still based upon the features of the
A500.
At that time we already had the knowledge and ideas to make an action-adventure, so the project started...
Since then, new members joined to us to make the game better, and to tell you the truth, the code has been rewritten
and the graphic has been redrawn many times as we overlook our work time to time.
In details, the game is planned to spread on 3 floppy disks, now a CD is required,
the music modules replaced with digitized pieces of music, the main characters's graphics became huge, some rendered elements included, and the CD32/2Megs restriction ignored...
To know what is the result, just read the following part!
Aniway, in short onEscapee is an action-adventure: an enhanced mixture of Another World and Flasback.
I have to mention that so many friends of us who are having PC-s, (after seeing the initial versions) requested
to make a PC-version of the game that now it's on way.
More detailed information about the game:
Most important features of our game in it's current state (AMIGA):
Coded in pure assembly to achieve maximal performance
Can be run on Amigas with at least M68020/AGA/2+2Megs/CD|HD
Graphics and animations drawn by hand
A few rendered elements like spaceship and complex figures' anims (E.G.: spider)
Many graphical effects (detailed in next section)
Music is digitized, and there are several even in the same level
Of course the music doesn't stops when playing animations
Levels complete as: 1-100% 2-90% 3-75% 4-10% 5-50% 6,7,8-ideas
The intro is ready (9 Megs, 5 minutes)
A playable preview is almost ready with levels 1,2,3 - but its size 50Mb-s
Controllable by joy or keyboard
International: There are no texts or speeches /except some in the intro/
International: As screen size 362x200 when playing, works well with NTSC /but the animations are in 320x200 /
A new animation format has been developed which is best suitable for the game's animations and packs well
A special screen constructor has been written so that new screens and levels can be drawn relatively fast
Features planned / under develoment:
The laser lines should be go across screens
The control of the swimming not done yet
Figures should have shadows
Game saving to HD (if present) instead of giving a code
Levels and their special effects:
There is the list of the existing levels:
Dumping Ground
Quarry Cave
Base Section
Streets of the City
Underwater Part
Rock Climbing
Forest
Dumping Ground II.
A not entire summary of (special) effects:
Rain
Reflecting puddles
Beams of light: Standing,Flashing,Sweeping,Tracking
Gleaming shields
Waving lights that filter through the surface of the ocean
Waving screen under water, rippling ocean-surface
Number of background animations
Many-many enemies with different level of intelligence
Full-screen animations through the intro, during playing, when dying, etc.
Logical games (can be controlled with mouse [ even serial ones ] )
Labirinth-like sections
Some facts about the main character:
More then 600 frames of animation, more then 50 types of movement. Nearly
twice as large as the one in Flashback! If everything goes well, you can see
some of the frames of him everywhere on this page...
He is controllable by keyboard or joystick, maybe another plus button will
be used to control the shield, because now it's hard for some people who tried it.
Basically, he can walk and swim (and rock-climb if that part will be needed).
When swimming there's not much to do. Mainly the walking-form rich in movement types,
for example 4 types for shooting. But search for the frames all around!
What about the future?
Well, we hasn't decided yet how to spread this game. As this is our first real big
project, and we've spent many work on it, we must be sure it will work well.
So, we are looking for commercial publishers. We can't manage the AMIGA an PC side
separated: it must be handled by the same company.
However, a shorter version of onEscapee can be ready in the middle of the year, or
a real big version at the end of the year is sure to can be made.
