.::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::. :: :: .-= :: SAD-FILE LIST CREATOR V3.o :: =----[%] ©1996 fLi7e / SAD [%]-------. | :: :: | | ·::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::· | | | `-----------------------------------------[%] English Documentation [%]---' "The Multi Conference FILE ID List Creator" Idea, Concept, Coding and Developing: Fli7e/sAD Some Ideas: Nightprowler/Hoodlum Beta testing: Nightprowler/Hoodlum What is FILC ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Filc is a small arexx compiled tool that can scan unlimited directories for files and extract the file id`s of all supportet formats and create a list in a slightly different style than "©AMI EXPRESS". The files of each directory will be a-z sorted before the list is beeing created, because i hate lists where disk 1/5 is at the bottom and disk 5/5 is in the middle of the list! Is not very comfortable and looks not that good i think. Requirements ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rexxtricks.library Rexxsupport.library Lotsa SID tunez to test How to configure ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Create a file named "FILC.cfg" and move it to your "sys:s" drawer. This file will store all your directories you like to have in the list, their names and the configuration for TXT and LHA realted file extensions. ExAMPLE: LHA_EXT = "LHA,LZH,LHZ,LZA" TXT_EXT = "TXT,NFO,ANS,ASC,DOC,DOK,INF" Num = 3 path.1 = "BBS:CONFS/ASSKI" name.1 = "Ascii Area" path.2 = "BBS:CONFS/TOOLS" name.2 = "USER HEAVEN" path.3 = "BBS:CONFS/AMINET" name.3 = "THE /\ NET" Discription: LHA_EXT = All extensions which can be handled by LHA. You need to put them into "" and seperate them by one single ",". TXT_EXT = Same as the LHA thingy but for TEXTFILE related extensions. NUM = Here you put the amount of coming directories to be scanned. Path.x = First path (without tailing "/") to scan in for for files. Name.x = The NAME for the FIRST PATH. This will NOT affect anything in the output list. I just use this to be able to display the ACTUAL dirname to the user watching the cli. Just for your ?entertainment?. You can have as many directories as you like. I guess most of the people who will use this tool (if someone will) are sysops! They`ll know what I mean. How to use ~~~~~~~~~~ As FILC is CLI based commandline sensitive tool you need to specify ONE thing: Usage: SAD-FILC.exe Where LISTFILE is the /X FILEDIR LOOKING ID-List beeing created .. I guess a commandline like SAD-FILC.exe ram:Files.txt would be a nice choice, eh? History ~~~~~~~ {v1.o} - In late 1995 i first released a tool beeing able to generate LOUSY looking file id listings where only the filename, the length and the file were displayed and there were just 3 filetypes supported! EXE, LHA and DMS ... {v2.o} - In early 1996 (end february) i decided to REWRITE my FILC and added lotsa filetypes and MULTI CONFERENCE usage not only ONE dir as in v1.o and as in FLC by NOCTURNE (his tool has been eaten NOW!) {v3.o} - I used to include the REXXTRICKS.LIBRARY to enhance some features and to gain some speed in file operations. I also optimized the code ALOT and speeded up some arexx routines and chain-loop calls. Added a PERCENTAGE COUNTER to show you how far FILC has been at the time. Now the TXT and LHA definitions are EXTERNAL in the configfile so you can ADD new or KICK ARSE to some existing ones. The Configfile now looks slightly different to the older ones but this is NEEDED to speed up 2 operations by more than 400%. Have you ever tried to use .. hmm about 30 different directories to be scanned with FILC 2.o? Try it! And then try the new one! No more line by line reading .. get it at ONCE! Messages ~~~~~~~~ Marodeur - You told me FILC is SMASHING but somehow SLOW! I`ve tried the OLD FLC by NOCTURNE on one of the dirs i use FILC on and .. well m8, it`s not FASTER! Maybe you guessed so as this is AREXX .. but check it now and you`ll see some speed improvements. STC - IBM GLOBAL NET seems they kicked your email arse off the net, right?
