UNICUIQUE SUUM! V2.0 - ENGLISH Verona, January 1995. "Quid sit futurum cras, fuge quaerere, et quem fors dierum cumque dabit, lucro adpone" - Oratius.  - FIRST OF ALL Unicuique Suum! is a Shareware program: if you use it, please send me US$3; my address is written at the bottom of the documentation. Well US$3, yes..., but more is also well accepted! =8*) Last but not least, I recommend you to keep program and documentation together. US! was created for the version 3.0 and 3.1 of the Operating System.  - PURPOSE The purpose of this program is to have three settings of the Workbench or, better, to give several users of an Amiga the possibility to set up the Wb as they want and like. The software is a lot useful even when you are in short of memory: by tacking back the Workbench to the default settings, without any localization or without any picture or sound, for example, you can save a lot of RAM, so that you will be able to run even the most pretentious programs.  - HOW DO I INSTALL IT? Copy the file Uni! and the Uniq. directory into the S: drawer, and the program Unicuique-Suum!2.0 wherever you want.  - THE PROGRAM To run US! during the Workbench loading, you have only to keep a mousebutton clicked after the reset of the Amiga. So the program will not be shown every boot of the computer. In this case however you have to add to the Startup-sequence (S:) the following command line, after the line C:Copy >NIL: ENVARC: Ram:Env (well, before Endcli =8*), DEVICE:PATH/Unicuique-Suum!2.0 NOSHOW. Alternatively it is possible to insert the line just mentioned in S:user-startup. To run US! from Workbench instead, you have only to double-click on its icon.  - PHILOSOPHY OF THE PROGRAM Amiga searches the preferences files in SYS:PREFS/ENV-ARCHIVE/SYS (ENVARC:Sys). If you click on the PREFS1 or PREFS2 button, the system will assign ENVARC: respectively to ENV-ARCHIVE1 and ENV-ARCHIVE2, which will become the new default dir of preference saving. Now, if you choose Preferences 2, for example, when you save your own "prefs", they will be saved into ENV-ARCHIVE2, and NOT into ENV-ARCHIVE. Max Memory saves as much RAM as possible, while WbenchStartup ignores the WBStartup drawer at the boot. The other gadgets eliminate all the preferences, but only till the reset of the machine.  - IMPORTANT The author declines every responsibility for possible - but VERY unlikely - damages or loss of data that the software could cause to the computer. "Quid sit futurum cras, fuge quaerere, et quem fors dierum cumque dabit, lucro adpone" - Orazio.  - PRIMA DI TUTTO US! è un programma SHAREWARE: se lo usate, per favore, inviatemi Lire 4000; se pero' proprio morite dalla voglia di inviarmi un assegno in bianco, non manchero' di usufruirne... (Vabbè, lasciamo perdere...) L'indirizzo è scritto in fondo alla documentazione. Si raccomanda altresì di mantenere uniti programma e documentazione. US! è stato creato appositamente per la versione 3.0/3.1 del Workbench.  - A COSA SERVE Lo scopo di questo programma è quello di avere diversi settaggi del Workbench, o meglio, di dare la possibilità a vari utenti di uno stesso Amiga di settare il banco di lavoro come pare e piace loro. Il programma risulta molto utile anche quando si è a corto di memoria: riportando il Wb ai valori di default, senza alcuna localizzazione e senza alcun disegno di background, ad esempio, si riesce a risparmiare parecchia RAM, così da far girare anche i programmi più pretenziosi, in fatto di spazio.  - COME SI INSTALLA Lanciare "Installa". Verranno copiati il file Uni! e la directory Uniq. in S:.  - IL PROGRAMMA Per lanciare US! durante il caricamento del Wb, basta tenere cliccato un tasto del mouse subito dopo il reset di Amiga. Il programma, così, non verrà mostrato ad ogni boot del computer. In questo caso, pero', si deve aggiungere alla User-Startup (in S:) la seguente riga di comando: Path:path/Unicuique-Suum!2.0 NOSHOW. Path è, ovviamente, il percorso per giungere al file. Alternativamente è possibile inserire il tutto nella Startup-sequence, dopo la lista degli "Assign". Per lanciare US! da Workbench, invece, basta bi-cliccare sulla sua icona.  - FILOSOFIA DI FUNZIONAMENTO Amiga cerca i file preferenze in SYS:PREFS/ENV-ARCHIVE/SYS, il cui nome logico è ENVARC:Sys. Cliccando il mouse sui primi due pulsanti virtuali di Unicuique Suum!, Preferences 1 e Preferences 2, il software assegnerà ENVARC: rispettivamente a ENV-ARCHIVE1 e ENV-ARCHIVE2, che diverranno così le nuove directory di salvataggio prefs. Ora, scegliendo ad esempio Preferences 2, quando salveremo i nostri settaggi con gli appositi programmi Wb, essi verranno registrati in ENV-ARCHIVE2, e NON in ENV-ARCHIVE. Max Memory disabilita, come già accennato, ogni "abbellimento" del Workbench, così da guadagnare sino a qualche centinaio di K di RAM. WbenchStartup fa in modo che il sistema ignori l'esistenza di WBStartup in fase di boot. WbenchStartup funziona da interruttore: se tale dir è abilitata, la disabilita, e vice versa. Con la mediazione dei rimanenti "bottoni", si eliminano le rispettive preferenze, ma SOLO FINO AL SUCCESSIVO BOOT, quando tutto tornerà normale. Infatti non verrà cancellato assolutamente nulla in ENVARC:, ma verranno ripristinate le prefs di default del Workbench, in Ram:Env/Sys. Nota: "Printer" comprende: Printer, Printerps e Printergfx. => Ricordarsi dell'esistenza di InitPrinter in Tools (Workbench). Il file che si occupa dell'assegnazione è UNi!, un semplice file script, modificabile, in quanto tale, da qualsiasi utente.  - IMPORTANTE L'autore declina ogni responsabilità per eventuali, ma MOLTO improbabili danni che il software potrebbe arrecare al computer o ai dati in esso contenuti.
