                     Docs For The New Hydra Protocol


The long awaited Hydra protocol is now here. I am releasing this only
to the developers at this time. This is the forfront of the new /X 4.0.
We are the first Amiga bbs to be able to handle this protocol.

As developers, you have paid for this privalage I felt that we (Joe and I),
owed you the first shot at trying and testing this history making express,
also I felt that this is a little more than beta testing. Maybe it does not
seem like much to all of you ( I hope it does ), but it is history in the
making for us here at LightSpeed Technologies. I personally want to thank
Big Boss, and Major Theft for the oportunity by making the hydra protocol
available to us.

No one is to have these files, but you that have given the opportunity
to d/l them. If I hear or see anyone of you give this to anyone under
any circumstances, you will loose your developer, silent, and support
altogether. There will be no excuses, or exceptions period.........

Ok let's get on with the docs.


First: Download all the files in the update door. ( You should already have
       this if you are reading this letter).

Second:Now take the express file and acp and put those files in the
       appropriate dir. Now make a PartUpload Directory in each node that
       you have.

Third: Add in your XPRTypes icon in the protocol dir
       these lines:

                    LIBRARY.<num>=Hydra
                    TITLE.<num>=/X Hydra

Fourth:Now put the Hydra Protocol Icon (in this lha file) in the
       bbs:protocol dir.

Fifth: Now put the AEhydra file in the doors: directory. The Library needed
       is already built in the Aehydra file, so no Library needs to be
       put in the Libs: dir.

       The bbs is now ready to transfer with Hydra Protocol. You will need the
       term written for hydra (you should have gotten it in your d/l) to
       be able to use this new feature. It has been modified by
       Bytemaster. You can upload, download, and chat at the same time.

       Hydra (bi-directional) works with the D, and the DS commands. It
       will work with the U command, but at this time express does not
       tell Hydracomm about any flagged files.

       Now to use the term with the script provided, (you will have to edit
       the serial.device ,the baud, and the port you are going to call out
       on). Do not change anything that says 2400, leave that alone. Now
       put the hydracomm in the bbs:utils directory, then put the script
       file called hydraterm.1 in your dh0:s directory.
       Now from the cli type:

                             Execute dh0:s/hydtraterm.1

       If you want you could create an icon to run this script file.


       A typical logon sequence would be as follows:

         After you execute the scipt file, the term should be displayed.
         Go into the local screen, now hit Right Amiga E to turn the echo
         on, so you can see what you are typing. Type ATDT <number you
         are calling>, and when you are logged on the bbs hit Right Amiga 
         E to turn Echo off. Now when in the bbs at any prompt hit Right
         Amiga U to bring up the requestor for uploads. Now pick the files
         you want to upload. After you have done that, flag all files you 
         want to download, and go ahead and download. The bbs will auto-
         matically upload and download at the same time.

       PLEASE REMEMBER THAT THE TERM IS NOT FINISHED YET, IT IS IN THE 
       ALPHA STAGES.  !!!!!

This is a warning. If you are iconified and then go into the bbs, you will
not see any transfer windows. This will be fixed at a latter date.
This is really IMPORTANT!!!! Do not iconify a node while Hydra transfers
are in progress. You get get a visit from MR.GURU.
