b3tRAM-a born winnertZeroxthpf2s2c11 R.A.M. - A BORN WINNER f1c13 by Zerox/Gods c12Another Army Production Made In June'97 c13People like to know what's happening around them and love to get entertained. It's about the same with Sceners - we like to get information about all the computer events & parties, productions, people etc. In order to get the information we want, we read mags. For about ten years now there have been good and bad mags on the Scene providing all the info we wish to get. During these years we've got info about what events will take place, productions that will come, reviews, discussions, personalities, scandals - in short: f2All f1that has happened in the Scene. The various mags have more or less competed in giving the readers the most interesting news first. And yes... the quality, the contents and way to tell a story have been very different for the hundreds of mags released. f2c11 THE DOWNFALL OF MAGS f1c13All the time new mags hit the Scene. The last years I've not seen that many new mags though; at least the number of active mags have decreased. Why is that? Probably it has something to do with less active Sceners, especially the real low number of swappers. Another reason is maybe that todays mags are of real high quality and only a few people dare to enter the mag Scene. It's also harder work to make a mag today than earlier... I'm sure the average editor spends more hours per issue than before. What does it take to make a top mag? Well, I guess a lot of Sceners and espcially editors have asked that question. Anyway, I'm going to give you lucky readers the key to success! Actually it's quite simple... to enter the no.1 position in a chart the mag has got to have a c12great namec13. In the Scene a good name is the same as a short name. Let me prove my point... according to my bad memory the following mags have ruled: c121988-1990 C.J. (Cracker Journal) 1990-1992 Zine 1992-1996 R.A.W. 1996- ? R.O.M. c13During these years the second best mags also had short names, like c12I.C.E. c13& D.I.S.C. c13for example. Rubbish you say? Habla, habla... details sucks. Anyway, let us concentrate on getting a mag at the top of every chart. Buy c12R.O.M.c13? Erm. First of all, the obvious name for a born winner should be c12R.A.M. c13The name is short and combines the power of the two best diskmags ever: c12R.A.W. c13& c12R.O.Mc13. In addition to that the name includes a computer term we're all familiar with. The similarity with c12R.A.W. c13& c12R.O.M. c13also gives the advantage with people voting for a name they think they know. Well, I guess it's not enough getting the no.1 spot in the charts by just calling the mag c12R.A.M. c13(we try harder) - we might have to include a few articles as well. Why not combine c12R.A.W. c13& c12R.O.M. c13again? You have to come up with some great ideas like in R.A.W. and present them in some well-written articles like in c12R.O.M. f2c11 CONCLUSION f1c13To come up with great ideas you just have to stop thinking traditional - just forget how a standard mag looks Why not create a mag that looks like a book? Go away from the standard setup - think revoltionary. An active coder & graphician is also a must to improve the mag all the time. Apart from your own articles, you get the establishment to help you. If you get regular support from the famous top-editors you'll have a winner. To present your articles with a perfect language you need an expert to rewrite your articles. This is perhaps a friend of yours with a much better language. That's about it really! Easy or what? Well, I'm surely looking forward to reading the first issue of c12R.A.M. c13- A Born Winner! c122000 - -> R.A.M. c13Next time I'll give you the receipe for how to make the best demo ever... I bet you can't wait.
