b3tEditorial for EditorstRokDaZonetfpf2s2c02 EDITORIAL FOR EDITORS f1c04 by RokDaZone f4c02"Please sit down. Make yourself comfortable. Get a hold." f1c03Seldomly have I seen the Diskmag Scene in such an embarassingly pitiful state. Not enough that we race ourselves head to head for some ridiculous rankings, no, envy has taken grip on most of us. Smaller quarrels within the c04leading magazine c03give noticeable reason for claiming that it's dead, the maineditor gone. The c04secondranked c03is declared dead because of it's unbelievable delays of -14 days. The mained of the supposed-to-be third ranked is spoiled by the fact he doesn't get enough votes. c04Freelancing writers c03of quite a name repeat themselves in throw ups of always the same topics without regarding the demanded writing styles - although from their skills there should be no problem to obtain quality. c04Braggers c03who started off a "second career" with negative c04Spandimerda c03of uncommon dimensions get startled immediately by realizing they didn't make many friends. Smaller private battles get boasted; the magazines get highly uninteresting battlefields of offended egos. f2Splendid. f1c02Can you hear me? Do you get the picture? c03Charts are one measurement for the success of a publication. Moreover they are the only ones we have, when comparing the mags to eachothers. Can this, however, mean that they become the only reason to release magazines? It is a natural wish certainly to receive a good ranking and I am the last to say that I don't feel personally insulted if the c04firstranked c03receives 20% more votes than we do, still this I can't find a legitimation to use fierce tricks to destroy their maineditor's reputation. c04Especially not behind his back. c03Sarcasm (which I dearly enjoy) is humour meant to hurt someone, but to achieve this, it seems wise to actually speak out and not whisper behind ones hand. Attacks against the number one are not only legitimate, they are a must. But they also must have a point and be open. If they ain't, they are pathetic. f2Tremendous. f1Most of all: Normally all the other mags should share the awillingness to reach the most popular mag we have; even if we don't like to admit it: At the moment we have someone to rule supreme. Instead of concerted actions, we find it appropriate to battle eachothers, to stand in our ways - or better in the way of the others. f2Interesting. f1Especially I enjoyed the way certain editors portraited the difficulties between c04TRSI c03and c04Scoopexc03. If one mag took party for c04TRSI c03- which is bad enough - the follower had to prove personality to get on side of the other. Not in comments or from a sarcastic/ironic view, but in socalled "objective reports". Abusal or just illfatedness? f2Remarkable. f1Then this bloody trend to report about c04strange habits c03of people who I can't call anything but appetitehampering. So a nobody smashed 256 cars in 4096 colours? What about a drivingliscense then? The case here is not that we find a report about someone unknown; it is the lacking content that worries me. Tastes are different and a liar the one who claims he never does fast article the cheap way, but c04pure populism c03also gives no splendid impression. One could do both and information doesn't disturb. f2Gorgeous. f1Or this strange attitude to make a popstar out oneself. Reports usually start with f4"I entered the hall"f1, find their middle in statements like f4"I met these cool guys and we went to a pub to booze" f1and end in f4"I think this party sucked"f1. In between as much infotainment as one can fit upon a matchhead. In 1992 this might have been an appropriate state of writing and it still is for standalone reports spread hand to hand, but really: Demos also don't look the way they used to in 1992. And don't come and say "too bad". f2Brilliant. f1Everybody has to make up topics where there ain't some in order to fill his magazine (although somebody still denies this - well, compare two paragraphs earlier) we call it c04summersholec03, but they should at least seem like you have a story. It is legitimate to report about socalled "minour" Sceners/groups. It is legitimate to do reviews of "unimportant" releases. If you find it interesting to review a new CD then do it, but do it in a c04good wayc03. f2Terrific. f1Now you feel offended. You found yourself in here openly. Maybe not by name, but it wasn't difficult to spot who was meant. The bad boy grins from your screen with a lascivious expression and all you wish is to grab your c04CED c03and wash his filty mouth. Well, do so. I am here and I await you. You know where to find and where to hurt me. Just do it! f2Fascinating. f1The c04readers c03pay all these fuzzes back and it is easy to spot. Some nameless newcomers have made it to quite respectable ranks and I don't think it's undeserved. If certain people just continue to behave like the worlds oyster and abuse their publication for constant c04Spandimerda c03- leaving out ironic shit throwing of course - then it's only a matter of time when this diskmags get replaced by others. And this is the end. f2c02Unexpected.
