b3tShade is deadtAlivethpf2s1c08 SHADE IS DEAD f1c10 by Alive/Digital c09Yes, it's true. I'm afraid I have some rather distressing news for the entire Scene: f2Shade of Digital is dead! f1On the 1/10/97, Shade, co-Editor of c10Generationc09, sadly passed away. Never again will you read another of his high-quality, topical, substantive and sometimes exciting but always thought provoking articles. Not only that, but he will never get the chance he deserved to prosper as one of England's most promising young Scene-graphicians of recent times. c10(ahem) c09Are you all in floods of tears yet? What do you mean: f4"No!"f1? f2c08 PHEW, SHADE IS ALIVE! f1c09Oh well. Anyway, perhaps I was a little misleading with my opening paragraph. As a matter of fact, Shade is Alive; quite literally. f2Shade is Alive. f1Am I not making my point clear enough? Well, what I mean to say is that I (ex.Shade/DTL) have changed my handle to c10Alivec09. So, you'll all be unpleased to hear, I'm alive and Alive - nolonger Shade, and definitely not dead! Sorry to disappoint you all. f2c08 SHADE, DOUBLE TROUBLE f1c09So, why exactly have I decided to change my handle? (like anyone reading this really cares!) Why after three years of establishing the name Shade, both in the UK and overseas, have I decided to throw all the prestige that goes along with the name Shade/Digital down the drain? (oh, I'm so modest!) Well, quite simply, because another Shade already exists on the Scene. Of course, I didn't give-in without a fight. In fact me and c10Shade/TRSI c09have exchanged many bitter words on the matter. We've both threatened to break eachother's bones if the other didn't rename immediately! Well not quite, neither of us went to those extremes, but we both knew something had to be done. I've been holding out, hoping Shade/TRSI would crumble under the pressure and change his own handle, but he can be quite stubborn and I don't think he would ever have given in. c10(Argh, B#%@TARD! hehe!) f2c08 ONE SHADE IN TWO BODIES f1c09Apart from both having the same handle, we also have other things in common: we are both Editors (Shade Edits for c10Insomniac09), we were both in S!P and we are both regular visitors to #Amigascne on IRC. The only Scene-differences are that I'm also a gfxer and from England. (Shade is Swedish) All these similarities can only lead to confusion for poor Sceners, as c10FishWave/Scoopex c09highlights so well with his article entitled f4c08"Shade...eh and...Shade?" c09f1in the latest issue of his mag c10SeenPointc09. f2c08 MAGIC IN A RAGE! f1c09I doubt you'll be surprised when I tell you that I have already felt the brunt of this inevitable confusion! I was on IRC one day, minding my own business as usual, when - all of a sudden - I got a message from a rather fuming c10Magic/Nah-Kolorc09. (Scene writer) He started throwing accusations at me for supposedly writing slanderous lies and bullshit about him in c10Insomniac09. Of course, lying isn't my style at all and I had to calm him down and explain that it was Shade/TRSI that had written the lies - not me! In the end he believed my story. f2c08 THE BIG STEP f1c09Anyway, as me and Shade release more and more articles in the future, this mistaken identity syndrome can only escalate. Sadly the only way I can find of avoiding this kind of confusion is to take the big step and change my handle. It's been a very hard decision for me to make because I loved the name Shade, but the confusion and bad publicity just isn't worth it. So that's why I'm now known as:- c08 - ALIVE - f4c09 "the artist&editor formerly known as Shade" f1(errr) c10PS: Thanks go out to FishWave for finalising a decision I've been holding back for some time now. Cheers.
