b3tJurassic Pack-The truthtSixpacktfpf2s1c08 JURASSIC PACK - THE TRUTH f1c10 Rendered by Sixpack c10Being intrigued by having seen many articles about the end of c09Jurassic Pack c10all slightely different from eachothers, c09Generation c10asked the real maker of the famous packmag c09Sixpack/Gods c10for some information. The good fellow did not reply with some useful information. Instead he wrote a full article! Therefore without any further commentation, we directly leave the word to the Norwegian editor. f2c08 SIXPACK RECEIVES A DISKMAG f1c09You know, one of the best moments I have now days in the Scene must be when I get a new disk magazine from some friendly main-ed. I shout to my mom f4c08"Heey, I need some coffee up here" f1c09and she brings a nice cup of warm coffee in a huge cup with 'The Slave' written all over it. First I search over all the articles and try to find some new gossips about my group or one of my productions, and yes, usally I find some fairly interesting texts. And of course many about JP. But there is one thing that isn't quite right in every article about my mag. No one seems to have asked me for information when they wrote the articles about how and why JP started, the history and so forth. I can't remember have seen at least one correct article about its history. The closest one must be from c10Sane c09in c10Seenpoint#6 c09when he wrote about the topics - f4'R.I.P JP' f1and f4'Why JP dies: The truth'f1. But still, much missing. Sane asked c10Ghandyc09, alright, but he didn't ask the man really behind it all... Me. f2c08 A BRIEF HISTORY f1c09It all started out during the winter of 1994. We (c10Tonic Incc09: c10Killjoyc09, c10Sixpackc09, c10Jointc09) had been planning a pack/mag for a long time, but had not really made anything of it. At the c10Gathering'94 c09a code started to take shape. Contacts were made at the party so support for the production was available. At the 16th of May 1994, our dream materialized in the shape of the first ever c10Jurassic Pack c09(with a pack part). This issue was not very serious, nor was it very well made, but it was a beginning. We were really eager to see another issue, so the second number was released less than two months later, on the 7th of July, this time with a little more serious, improved code, and new graphics. Between these issues, I left c10Tonic Inc. c09for c10Iris c09and took the pack with me. Still, the producing staff was the same and issue two was still our little prodigy. The third issue saw the light of the day exactly three months after the birth, released at the 16th August 1994. Again, the code had been enhanced to incorporate cliparts and a search-routine (...cumbersome at best...) plus some other invisible features. This issue also contained new panel-graphics and the latest intros from different groups. Ever changing, the "pack" was more and more becoming a mag, increasing in size and level of professionality. I was at this time considering membership in a new group called c10Gods c09and joined this crew together with c10Joint c09shortly after the release of the third issue. The first thing that had to go was sadly Killjoy's by now quite thorough code. c10Zytrox/Gods c09was given the divine task of giving JP a new engine, while c10Bridgeclaw c09made up the cosmetics. This package was used until the last issue in June 1995, as it was for the pre-release issue that hit the Scene more than a year later for the c10GASP c09party 1995. The reason for this unforgivable delay was mostly me serving the army, but also a long delay in finishing the proposed asm-code from c10Zytroxc09. To be able to continue producing JP with me slaving in the Airforce, I asked our brand new God, c10Ghandyc09, to substitute as main-ed for me. Ghandy was game, and was introduced to the making of JP at c10The Party'95c09. Shortly after this, the f2new f1Jurassic Pack was ready and to indicate the beginning of a new era, JP was renumbered, begining again at issue AG ('After Gods', so to speak). This issue was welcomed to the Scene in January 1996 by a very enlightening 7th place in c10The Chartsc09. Not much later, at the Gathering'96, the "second" issue was released by Ghandy, as I was still in the airforce. Still growing and still gaining popularity and support, JP was beyond being a "pack", but now a full-grown mag (we kept the name since c10Jurassic Mag c09sounds stupid). Actually intros hadn't been included since the last release under Iris and won't be in the future either. The grandest and most complete issue blessed the Scene in August'96, and saw the homecoming of the real main ed, now putting all my time and efforts back into the pack. At least I tried. The fourth issue was unleashed in December '96. This was kind of a small issue due to some minor difficulties internally in the group. And now we were seriously talking about a new source and new graphics as the current package was begining to grow old. I was searching over IRC and other mail for friends, asking if they knew someone that would be so kind to make me a new mag source. No one wanted, so I started to fear the worst as I really didn't want to make another issue with the current source. I talked it over with c10Ghandyc09 and we agreed to quit JP if we didn't get a new todays standard package now. Suddenly there was a breaktrough, c10Chris c09told me that c10Brainwasher c09wanted to do a mag code f2nowf1. Brainy wanted to do a source code for c10D.I.S.C. c09He wanted to see a comeback from the oldest disk magazine in the Scene. Now it was clear, JP had to go cause two mags in one group sounded silly and 'was' silly. I told Ghandy the news, and he joined up with the D.I.S.C. staff. And from there we forgot about JP and started to design and make the D.I.S.C. comeback a reality. Then in April 1997 Ghandy wrote me a mail and said that he had so much stuff he really wanted to release and since there wasn't going to be any D.I.S.C. for months, we thought about releasing one more issue of JP. We were sure to shock everyone with a new release. The fifth issue saw the light in May 1997 with many interesting articles, still with the same style as done before. Ghandy took care of this issue since I was so busy with the making D.I.S.C. and a three week vacation to Greece. After this release we was sure about one thing; No more Jurassic for the Scene as D.I.S.C. seemed to be closer than ever, and Ghandy working with the Showtime and Seenpoint staffs. End of a brief history f2c08 SIXPACK FORMULATES FAMOUS LAST WORDS f1c09This is the true story of the life of c10Jurassic Packc09, not the twisted/made up stories you read in most diskmagazines today. Still, c10Sane c09was not that far away from the truth, just that he had never heard about Jurassic Pack when I still was in c10TNC/Iris c09back in 1993/94. In the old issues we actually had a pack part added. I thought of having a pack part in the c10Gods c09issues too and asked c10Moon/Abyss c09to do a fancy little thing when I met him at c10The Party'95c09. He agreed to do it, but after some serious brainstorming I came to the decision that we really didn't need any pack part as this was more like a mag now and of course the lack of intros released during no party season. So will you see another issue of the most friendly mag ever? Will you see a JP section in some mag? Well, all I can say is; watch out folks! Maybe one day a coder wants to do a new source, or is he afraid of the everlasting treath from c10Mopc09. But that is a whole new story to be told. Later, lads...
