Well, first of all I'm only two years in the Scene, but I think that I can write something on this, because I seen many demos earlier. In my opinion the best demo for the A500 is c12'Arte' c13by c12Sanityc13. For the non-Scene guys the the most attractive A500 demo seems to be c12'9 Fingers' c13by c12Spaceballsc13. I want to look at the two groups - Sanity and Spaceballs - that were big names five years ago. Today they have become a bit different. Sanity has turned into just a name and they don't make anything. When c12Chaos/Sanity c13released c12'Alto Knallo' c13(FEB) on the PC at c12The Party'96 c13and won the demo compo, he didn't do it under c12Sanity PCc13. After this, I can confidently say that Sanity is only a name today, and maybe its not important anymore for also its old members. I think that maybe Sanity would not have died if they released c12Compass#2c13, because this group mainly stopped because the members didn't have a good connection anymore. The diskmag Compass could be a good connection and maybe Sanity would have made more demos after c12Roots Finalc13. About Spaceballs: I looked at their web page and I saw that they are still alive, but in a different form. The last demos made by c12Slummy c13are definately not as good as the demos of c12Lonestarc13. I think that this is the problem. Now Lonestar only produces games and the group is not as before without him. Also Spaceballs have some inactive members like c12Lord Helmetc13. So these two groups have changed totally in the last five years. f2c11 CHANGES f1c13The AGA Scene has become more strong in the last five years with the best AGA-demos being c12'Exit Planet Dust'c13, c12'Tint'c13, c12'Captured Dreams' c13and c12'Shaft 7'c13. I feel that five years ago the demos were different from each another while today they look more and more the same. With the 3D the coders have shown the great power of the Amiga code, but other important things are a bit neglected. I think that now with c12The Party'97 c13there will come some changes, because if there won't f2big f1changes, the Scene will go downhill. Already at the c12Assembly'97 c13there was a tendency to show different demos like the c12Limbo c13intro. The musicdisks also have changed in the last five years and became more and more a different thing from the traditional selection with a menu. Like in c12'Moments' c13and 'c12Virgill Dreams' c13that contain great code, graphics/pics and not only the music. Also five years ago there hasn't been c12Lazurc13! Nowadays Lazur has become the best graphician, because c12Facetc13, c12Danny c13are sleeping a bit, and Lazur makes more and more slideshows like c12'Sun' c13and c12'Wild'c13. The diskmags changes too, with c12RAW c13stomping on the stomachs of the elite, bringing crazy stories without being afraid to hide the facts. Also after RAW other great innovantions came like c12ROM c13with the graphical menu and the reports. Also c12Abnormalia c13showed that it is possible to makes a diskmag about the Scene but with language that is not from the Scene! Well, I think that there are some other great diskmags too like c12Generationc13, c12Showtimec13, c12Seenpoint c13that bring great motivation. But I dont know what can happen more great in the diskmags Scene, because now after RAW/ROM I dont see any total innovations and the diskmags are a bit alike. Maybe in the next five years this changes to become better with web diskmags taking over? f2c11 COMEBACKS f1c13Also I want to say something about the comebacks. It is hard to organise again a comeback of a group/diskmag. Because there are some new people in the Scene that respect the work of the other olds, and they contact them to make something. At first the old guys look like they want to make something but then don't reply anymore. I think that when something is done like the c12Razor1911 c13comeback, then this is to look up as its very hard to make it as good as this. Also I want to say to everybody to help the people of c12DISC c13for their comeback. I think that there are many more things to say/write, especially about the things that don't change. The f4'Lamers vs Elite' f1that is now f4'Non-VIS vs VIS'f1, the arrogancy that people pretend to show me how to think about other diskmags/people and also to join a group which when I dont have a famous name I only get short letters with cold words, and when I show some good abilities it becomes friendship at once! Well I dont have a cure for this, but its to mentioned because the beginners knows that they are f2not f1alone with this fact.
