HAVE THEY? f1c04 by RokDaZone c03Actually when referring back to the year of 1992 - the birthyear of c02Generation c03- I must confess that more or less I launched my real Scene carrier in that very same year. Although having followed the Scene's activity since 1989 more or less and although having been member of various groups before, 1992 and there especially the c02Hurricane Partyc03, have been the ignition for the creature called c01RokDaZonec03. Funny enough I have been member of c02Amaze c03already in 1991. This group, however, crashed two months after I joined when c02Pinhead c03and c02Bomber c03left for c02Anarchyc03. The team fell apart and was laid to rest. I became groupless. c01Damion c03released the first issue of c02Generation c03under the label of the newborn Amaze - which I considered a fake and Generation as lame (Sorry, Damdam). Another stupid messagebox on the market released by a fake group, because they couldn't do anything better. c04So there he was: Damion with his Generation. And of course the demands from people to f2change the ugly graphics. f1c03I was in the lucky position to see various groups rise and fall like the legendary c02Anarchyc03, c02Phenomena c03and c02Crusadersc03. The infinite c02Andromedac03, which turned out to be not that infinite. I witnessed the thousands wars of c02Scoopexc03, the battle between c02Melon c03and c02Kefrensc03, the hatred campaigns against c02Maniacs of Noicec03. I felt so proud when finding groups like c02Sanity c03and Andromeda greet me in their demos. c04And whilst all this time there always was Damion and his Generation. And of course the demands from people to f2change the ugly graphics. f1c03Never have I seen a better code and a better appearance for a magazine than the one from c02Stolen Datac03. Never have I enjoyed a better sounddisk than c02"Bruno's Box III" c03from Anarchy. Never have I fallen more in love with a demo like with c02"Nexus7" c03from Andromeda. Never have I listened more often to a demomodule than c02"Space Deliria" c03from Dr. Awesome. Never has there been a better packdisk series like c02"Benson Pack" c03by Bomber and Pinhead of Anarchy. Never will I forget the very first zoomrotator which was the one in the c02"WOC92 Demo" c03by Sanity. No slideshow have I enjoyed more than the one from c02Tatlinc03. No vectorcube impressed me more than the first lightsourced one that I have seen in c02"Phantasmagoria" c03by Anarchy. No soundtrack blew me away more than the one from c02"Closer" c03by CNCD. No demo left me more stunned for its unexpected appearance than c02"State of the Art"c03. No release impressed me more for its quantity than c02"Odysee" c03by Alcatraz. No party has been more fun than the c02"Hurricane Party 92"c03. c04And whilst all this time there always was Damion and his Generation. And of course the demands from people to f2change the ugly graphics. f1c03No, the Scene has not changed my life, but I was fortunate to be able to change the Scene. At least a bit. The importance of diskmags grew with each issue being released, editors became icones of a new and more intellectual Scene. c02Macno c03- my mentor and lecturer - taught us what writing could mean; c02Abnormalia c03remains unreached. But they all died in the wind of the seasons. The storm of the years raped attitudes and blew away loyality. They all went down the drain. The groups. The people. The packseries'. The diskmags. All, apart from one. I found so many friends in the Scene and lost them. I fought with so many enemies and lost them. The Scene is not much more than a graveyard for a worldwide childhood. A kindergarden for destroyed disks and forgotten handwritings. Still it was since the very beginning. Even when I really entered the Scene and when Damion founded Generation and when people started to complain about its graphics, many Sceners already got lost in time and in meaning. Even when I saw my first demos on Amiga in 1988, people were telling me about dead groups and Sceners who sold their computers. To some degree it is hard to enjoy the great rankings in charts that I get nowadays when finding that the people I knew don't know about it for they are lost for the Scene. To some degree I am not sure if I actually am a part of the Scene nowadays or if I am just a watcher from the outside who now and then comes up with his thought bundled in a magazine. Five years have changed me while my lifespan decreased dramatically. Have I changed the Scene? Has it changed me? I don't know. All I know is: f4c01"Damion, it's time to change the graphics."
