10. News in Brief
- In matters of our own I want to direct your attention to a survey, which is very important for the future of this
magazine and which is included in this edition of AMIGA aktuell International. I ask ALL of you to have some minutes
and to participate. Thank you.
- In an online survey of the German game magazine Amiga Future, on which 230 participated, showed, that AMIGA-aktuell,
the German version of this magazine, won far ahead of all other German magazines. The results can be read (in German only)
on http://www.amigafuture.de in the section "Aktion".
- Phase 5 digital products, who went into bankruptcy, seem still to send signs of life: Gerald Carda, formerly
technical director of the company, sent products back, which have been stored during the insolvency after they were sent
for repair. Mostly they are still defect, but partially they are repaired. There are no news about the formerly CEO Wolf
Dietrich - according to rumours he is fleeing in Great Britain...
- According to Village Tronic, ParaGlide, the 3D-Voodoo-extension for the graphics board Picasso IV will be ready,
soon. But a release date has not been given, yet.
- The long awaited revision 2.0 of the text processing Amiga Writer is now available from Haage & Partner.
A demo version can be downloaded from the FTP server of the company (ftp://ftp.haage-partner.com/AmigaWriter/).
- Under the URL http://home6.inet.tele.dk/uhc/gocr/
you find the homepage for the Amiga version of GOCR, a free text recognition software.
- Stargate, the combination of newsreader and eMail program is freeware, now. The latest revision is 2.5 and can
be downloaded from http://www.toysoft-dev.com.
- It seems, that a Java Virtual Machine for 68k Amigas is under development. Informations about this project can
be found on http://www.merlancia.com/aje.
- According to the Asimware homepage (http://www.asimware.com/info-legacyproducts.html)
the development of the Amiga-CD filesystem AsimCDFS was cancelled.
