»I, too, have installed the new AmigaOS 3.5 on my fully equiped Amiga 2000 since November, but I cannot reproduce your experiences. Certainly I had some difficulties with special programs, but those were without exception hacks or patches, that are not needed anymore, e.g. "FastIPrefs" or certain functions of "MCP". Now the system is stable and before all remarkably faster than before.
Concerning your problem with PPC I cannot say anything, as you will understand, because there is no PPC board for A 2000 (when will we finally have it???). I admit, I don't see the developement of PPC drivers by two competing companies as a raving experience.
The double reset caused by setpatch: You did realize the necessity of it and according to Juergen Haage the developement of the new kickstart has advanced quite far (see interwiev in AmigaOS 01/2000). But to be honest, most users anyway start "PrepareEmul" or similar for "Fusion" or "Shapeshifter" in their Startup-Sequence and therefore are used to the reset. Anyhow, the Amiga starts remarkably faster than my Win98 machine.
I, too, wish to thank Haage & Partner for the new OS, they really rendered a splendid service. Even if many believe it delivers only optical improvements, it has become a remarkable AmigaOS. Sure, I should like to see some details added, but you cannot get it right for everybody.
