@node Intro

                                        @{b}@{u}Wotizit?@{ub}@{uu}

   Washing Machine lets you scale effortlessly any 2-256 colors IFF Picture.
 You can make it bigger,or shrink it or anything at will!

   Oh yes my dear of course every paint program does it but......

   While other softs only let you divide or multiply the dimensions by 2(haha!), or propose you an
 unaccurate graphic setting,Washing Machine gives you much more:

    - scales any picture,brush,shape,whatever its size is.

    - multiply coordinates by a ratio,which can be different or the same for x and y.

    - but you can also enter the final dimensions

    - easy graphic setting,but if you want accuracy,you can use your keyboard!

    - shows original and final image,in any screenmode

    - ergonomic interface,many options...(for such a soft)

    - good to create KlondikeIII cardsets,NewIcons,Backdrops,anything...

    - 100% free of course

    - I use it all the time

  Until now it has only been tested on my Amiga.So tell me how it works on yours.

   But I can tell you:

     - it needs WB 2.0+

     - it is ECS/AGA compatible

     - it works on PAL/NTSC screens.

     - you don't need a hard drive (but you already have one)

     - it recognizes your screen font

@node Installation

                               @{b}              @{u}Installation@{ub}@{uu}

   Couldn't be easier.

   Just copy the WM1.05b and its doc wherever you want.No assign.No external file needed.
 But you should save the prefs as soon as possible.

                                                @{b}@{u}Using Washing Machine@{ub}@{uu}

   It is quite simple.

 @{fg highlight}* Menus@{fg text}

   - @{u}@{b}Project menu@{ub}@{uu}: all the options you know.
     Please note that "save" means "save as..."

   - @{u}@{b}Image menu@{ub}@{uu}:

     * @{b}Show Original@{ub}: shows the picture you first loaded.
     * @{b}Show modified@{ub}: shows the picture after one or several modifications.
     * @{b}Graphic setting@{ub}: A black background,a blue rectangle symbolizing the original image,
       and a red one which you can change the width and the height,symbolizing the dimensions after
       the transformation
       left button : validates your choice.
       right button: cancels your choice.
     * @{b}Transformation@{ub}: begins to size the picture.Could take some time...

   - @{u}@{b}Preferences Menu@{ub}@{uu}:

     *@{b} Transformations@{ub}:
       > @{u}progressively@{uu}: adds the effect of a transformation to the previous one.For example
         a multiplication by 0.5,and a second one by 0.25,you'll have a final 0.125 ratio.
       > @{u}start afresh@{uu}: you will restart from the original size after a transformation.
     * @{b}Proportions@{ub}:
       > @{u}respected@{uu}: the ratio is the same for x and y,the proportions will remain the same
         after a transformation.
       > @{u}modifiable@{uu}: you can set the height and the width independently.
     * @{b}Screenmode@{ub}: modifies the screenmode which WM will use to show the picture.
       Also works for the Graphic setting screen,which can be useful.
     * @{b}Save@{ub}: No one really knows what that item is for.

  @{fg highlight}* Main Window@{fg text}

     * @{b}Original Picture@{ub}: Name,dimensions,colors...
     * @{b}Modified Picture@{ub}: The same for the saved image.
     * @{b}Graphic setting button@{ub}: save as in the menu
     * @{b}Horizontal ratio Gadget@{ub}: x ratio,modifies the width
          example:a 0.5 ratio divides the picture's width by two.
     * @{b}Verical ratio Gadget@{ub}: y ratio,modifies the height.
     * @{b}Width gadget@{ub}: width after modification
     * @{b}Height gadget@{ub}: height after modification
     * @{b}Transformation button@{ub}: same as in the menu

  I 've spent countless hours on that little soft,but it can't not be freeware.

  But don't hesitate,you can write to me,if you have any suggestion or anything.
  It will be nice.

   Don't worry there aren't that many.

   But if you find one,or if you're in trouble,please write!

   Some strange things still remain but who cares?

    - If you want a fine guru,try to DISPLAY a very big and colourful picture.

    - The final picture mustn't be too big(I mean:not 36000*2600*256...)

    - Only IFF for the moment (use HappyDT or the shareware MPLSPatch)

                              @{b}@{u}History and a bright future@{ub}@{uu}

  *@{b}History...@{ub}

   - ??? : version 1.0 : only released on "Dream44" CD-Rom.Apparenty nobody noticed it.

   - september 1997 - version 1.05 : Unreleased (?);bug fixes,font-sensitive interface,
     a lot faster.

   - Summer 1999 - version 1.05b : first official public release;a few bug fixes.

    To me,WM1.05b works fine,so it may be the last version.

  *@{b}Future@{ub}:

   - maybe Datatype handling.Who needs it?
   - will I find some time and motivation to make it faster?(ask for it..)
   - will I find some time and motivation to change the pics display?(maybe if you
      ask...)
   - do you really need a better-looking interface with several pictures loaded at
      the same time,drag'n'drop,rainbow colours and so on???
   - in fact,if you want anything you can ask and I'll see what I can do.

   Washing Machine was written in Blitz Basic 2.It's my first Amiga Release.

   Before that,I wrote a adventure game(french only) for the CPC, maybe you
 will be able to play it soon with a CPC emulator.I'll see.

   Also,watch out for Alien NewIcons,a huge NewIcons Set including many use-
 ful icons of any kind,and for the pIROU special Urouhack set, which was
 inspired by the pOS design.IMHO it is excellent of course.

   Thank you for reading all that stuff.Now you should go outside and take a
 walk.That's a good idea.
