I only can say it is a ridiculous argument for being forced to use the
Linux kernel, that the history of drivers seems to be fully developed.

[I did not claim this. Compared to QNX the number of available (and
mature) device drivers is huge; editor's note]

My experiences with my x86 system are completely different, may it be the
insufficient support of Creative, who since release of the SB-Live! Sound
Board did not manage to to supply an appropriate driver for Linux better than
beta stage (and only for a few compiled kernels). - Or be it, because the
recent graphics boards like TNT2 are still waiting for the "adapted" OpenGL
(Mesa in this case) driver (- libraries) and so omit a perfect harware/
assistance. There too time came to a complete standstill and the user must
suffer from a lack of support by the hardware manufacturer. What I wanted to
point out is, that kind words regarding the Linux kernel might lead to deep
disappointment for some people. I do not wish to spread to dim a view, because
I know the stability advantages of this operating system, but who wants to
risk everything for a Mega "Multimedia" OS and takes into consideration the
Linux kernel he will soon recognize, that there too the time came to a halt
concerning harware/support nearly completely.
