6. AMIGA hires Dr. Rick LeFaivre as Chief Technology Officer (CTO)

Dr. Rick LeFaivre, a recognized leader in the international computer business, was hired for product development. This is the history of the new Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of AMIGA:

Rick LeFaivre is Chief Technology Officer for the Amiga subsidiary of Gateway, Inc. He joined Gateway/Amiga in April 1999, and is responsible for Amiga's future technology directions.

Prior to joining Amiga, Dr. LeFaivre served as senior vice president of R&D and chief technology officer at Inprise Corporation, formed from the merger of Borland International and Visigenic Software.

He was previously:

• Vice president of the Advanced Technology Group at Apple Computer


• Senior vice president of product development and chief technology officer for the Computer Curriculum Corporation subsidiary of Viacom, Inc.


• Vice president of engineering for the Network Systems Division at Silicon Graphics Computer Systems


• Director of Windows and Graphics Systems at Sun Microsystems


• Director of Computing and Visual Systems Research at Tektronix, Inc.

and

• Professor of computer science at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey.

His responabilities have included overseeing international R&D centers for Tektronix in Leuven, Belgium, the Apple/ISS Joint Venture in Singapore, and Inprise R&D Centres in Singapore and Sydney, Australia.

Dr. LeFaivre received his A.B. in mathematics from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1969, and his M.S. (1971) and Ph.D. (1974) in computer science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Hew was elected to membership in the Phi Bet Kappa, Sigma Xi and Pi Mu Epsilon honorary societies, and is a member of the Association for Computing Machinery. He has served on a number of industry and academic advisory boards, including the Council of Chief Technology Officers of the Computer Systems Policy Project, the Information Technology Industry Council, the Software Patent Institute, the Computer Science Research Network, and the IEEE Technical Committee on Machine Intelligence and Pattern Analasis.

Dr. LeFaivre has published extensively in the computer science literature, and has testified before Congress on matters of technology.«
