The Sinclair ZX Spectrum ROM is copyright Amstrad plc, but freely
distributable for non-commercial purposes (ie. with freely-distributable
emulators).  The character set is technically part of the ROM, so this font
should not be used for any commercial purpose.

Spectrum.font is an Amiga bitmap font containing the complete Sinclair ZX
Spectrum character set.  All the characters are mapped to their Amiga
ECMA-94 equivalents wherever possible.  In addition, the Spectrum graphics
characters are mapped in a semi-logical order.  On a British keymap, the
block graphics should be in the expected place on the numerical keys 1-7:
just press Alt and the number to see them.

The inversed versions of the graphics are in a slightly different place.
(backwards from "u", in fact)

British keymap is as follows:

The Alt 1-7 characters probably don't vary much between countries.

The ZX81 characters are in completely illogical places, due to:
a) this was hacked on afterwards
b) alt-f to alt-k on British keymaps are "dead keys" for accented characters

All other ZX81 characters are the same as Spectrum ones.  See the Spectrum
table to determine the physical location on a ZX81 keyboard.

There are some other unusual/unexpected characters in the font.  These were
for my use, and can generally be ignored.

If you can't find the characters on your keyboard, try using the KeyShow
program. (Extras disk, Tools drawer)

Please use the supplied Installer script, as there are several revisions of
the Spectrum.font in existance.  Installer will tell you the version
currently installed (if any), and the version you are trying to install. 
Please do not overwrite newer versions.

This font is freely distributable.

Due to restrictions on the distribution of the Spectrum ROM code, you are
technically breaking Amstrad's copyright if you sell this font for profit.

This font was created by Chris Young, with the old classic WB1.3 program
"FED" and a Spectrum emulator.  The ZX81 graphics were added later with a
copy of Typeface (which is about 3 million times better than FED, but then
you could have probably guessed that...)
