This program is here to fill a gap. One which you might not have noticed existed. It is, as you've probably guessed, a tagtool.
But it can do a bit more than that. Specifically, it can do MOOD kludges, headers, signatures, Now Playing lines and taglines. It can also have a variety of different files for each part, so you could classify your taglines, for instance. And it supports the most popular tagline file formats. It's basically what a simple tagline section becomes when you spend several months concentrating just on taglines.
How did it come about?
A couple of years ago, when I first got involved in comms, I was using a program called AmyBW for all my off-line mail. This program had a very good tagline section in it.
When I became a Fidonet point, I switched to using Spot. The tagline part of Spot supported "multiline" taglines, but was nowhere near as flexible as AmyBW.
The final inspiration was a program called "AmigaETag". At that stage I hadn't registered Spot, so I couldn't even use its tagline facilities, so I tried AmigaETag. Its facilities where basically the same of Spot's, but in its documentaion, the author stated "if you don't like it, write your own", or something like that.
So I did.
Tagliners for the Amiga are still quite rare. All the ones I've picked up in the public domain are not up to much. So I had another incentive: to make Tag-o-Miga the best tagliner available! The program grew, supporting both one-line and multi-line taglines, a GUI, then mood kludges, headers and signatures were added.
Further development took place - despite the low number of users actively using the program - and, as I tried to broaden my horizons a bit, it was ported to as many different platforms as possible.
Now, development is coming to a close. The program now does everything I want it to and it's in a (relatively) stable and bug-free state. This is also the first open-source release, so you can carry on development yourself if you think something really important is missing!
