It works as fine as you can think.

>> How does Picasso IV compare with Cybergraphics?
Firstly, PicassoIV is a graphic card and cybergfx is a graphic driver package!
So there's no comparaisons between the two!!
The choice between cybergfx or P96 depends on the graphic card you use.
But, I found cybergfx being more compatible, as all the applications are
cybergfx compatible but P96 isn't totally cybergfx compatible.
Bye.

Yes, when I first started my business, that's how I went, except FW 97 had
not come out yet. I used FW5, but it would have been a whole lot easier
with '97.

The text blocks are the way to go. The biggest problem I encountered was in
printing in that my printer prints about 1/8" lower than what is displayed.
Just be sure to print out a test to make sure things line up before
committing to the expensive paper.

Billy

My apologies Guillaume, - I meant Cybervision 64-3D compared with
Picasso IV.

Yes I have....printed on to labels (because of the limitations of the
printer) and then stuck on to card and cut. They are very, very good.

I recently downloaded FW9730r1.lha in the hope of using the patch to
speed up FinalWriter 97. However, I must assume I have a UK English
version, as it refused to patch. Does anyone know if Martin Berndt has
written a version which would work with my copy?

I tried to reply to him via the e-mail address in the docs, but it was
bounced back to me.

I was wondering how...english users can use European characters with accents.
I'm a musician and need all of them from time to time. I'm using finalwriter
97.

Also is Final Writer being supported, I haven't seen any new news on the WWW
page in a while (and I am new to the mailing list).

Thanks

Adam, yes you can use European characters in FW. For the so called german
"Umlaut" use right alt and k, then type the letter, like a, u, o. For the
double s as in ß hold right alt and type s key. I do not know about the
accents, as in the French language. I hope this of some help.

Use the excellent FinalTyper arrexx macro available on Aminet - all accents
seem to be there.

Hello. I have 2 questions:

* Can I draw/add ARROWS on BOTH side of the line? How to do that?

* Will new FinalWriter be released? (maybe version 98)? What is
hapenning with developers? Is FW "dead product"? :(
I think version FW98 is bugged... :(

greetings...

When using the USA1 keymap:

Function Alt and... Applicable To Example

Grave Accent f Vowels and Spaces Alt+f,then a = á
Acute Accent g Vowels and Spaces Alt+g,then o = ò
Cicumflex h Vowels and Spaces Alt+h,then u = û
Tilde j Vowels, Spaces and N Alt+j,then n = ñ
Umlaut k Vowels and Spaces Alt+k,then u = ü

Uppercase letters are printed if the shift key is used with the key
pressed after the Alt+qualifier keypress.
Example: Alt+k, followed by Shift+a = Ä.

I do not know if this is the same using other keymaps, but this
can be checked using the ShowKey program included with Workbench 3.x
and possibly also 2.x.

Mr. Johann Samlowski said on 09-Jun-98,

JS> I do not know about the accents, as in the French language.

This works with other programs... and FinalWriter:

  ALT + f (+ vowel a) á ALT + h (+ vowel a) â
  ALT + g (+ vowel a) à ALT + k (+ vowel a) ä

Obviously with a spanish (or perhaps french) keyboard theses signs
  are visibles on the keyboard...

Hello,

I've finally got the upgrade to FW97 (from version 4.0), so I've got
lots of new things to play with.

I have a question with tables. Is it possible to alter the font (or for
that matter, anything else) one row/column at a time, or indeed the
whole table instead of one cell at a time.

The only success I've had was to highlight the 'data' in one cell, and
change that as required. But I've had no luck modifying the whole row.
For example, the first row could be a header row, and I want that whole
row to be in a different style?

Any ideas?

No, you can't. But Softwood released with FW an macro called "GfxClip".
This is from 1994 and not uptodate. So i have reprogrammed it. You can find
the version 4.1 (06/14/98) on Aminet: biz/swood/FW_GfxClip.lha (one script
for german and english speaking users).
Theres also a file called biz/swood/FW_GfxClipTemp.lha. It includes a macro
(created with GfxClip) called Arrow - Pfeil. This macro solves your
problem.

At this time FW will be not updated. ;-(

Thats a big problem of the function: table. One cell at a time ;-) Or you
use the table preferences (no select of a table). Theres a function called
"data".
But if you want to change it the after a creation of table, theres the big
problem once.

So i created a macro called "TabFont". The macro solves this problem. This
macro will be released commercially with 17 other useful macros. Each macro
has a graphical user interface (GUI). Please wait a few days. Please look
everyday at Aminet: biz/swood/FW_AllInOneEng.lha ;-) An german overview and
screenshots about all macros you can get biz/swood/FW_AllInOne.lha
At the time i have to write the english guides of all macros. A hard work.
My english is'nt the best. ;-)
BTW: The german version is available since March 98.

Best regards

Hi Bob,

Yes, I'm using a Picasso IV with FW97 and it works great at 800 x 600
on a SVGA 17in monitor. It will also display at higher res up to 1280 x
1024. The only problem I had was when I set up the board at first, the
prefs were set for NTSC and FW97 wouldn't display at all. You have to
delete the prefs file then a requester box comes up at FW97 launch and
you can set it for the Picasso. I don't know how it compares with the
CV3D board, but the Picasso IV has a built in flicker fixer/ scan
doubler . I'm happy with it. If you get it, don't install the printer
patch to WB Start-up. It causes odd printing with FW97. I think the
patch is for an older version anyway .

Hi folks, latest patch I saw was for FW 4.0. May not work with FW97, regardless of
language. Somebody out there who can speak from experience?
Johann

Dear Heiko Schr=F6der:

In the file "insert_ascii.guide" you wrote:

I am using wb 3.1 and I do not have this system library, nor can I
find it on Aminet. Could you tell me where I can find it, please?
Insert_Ascii looks like a real answer to prayer, I look forward to
using it.

I am glad you are able to use this excellent macro. I could not,

Thank you so very much for this library. Ascii insertions are now
effortless. One thing I really see as an improvemnt over the staock
FW handling of opening files is that the Insert_Ascii macro
/remembers/ its source directory while FW constantly defaults back to
the path of the file currently being edited.
    Thank you again.
