As mentioned above I have probs with this e-matrix 530/40 - AT/CD. I use it with 16MB-32Bit-FastRam and OS 3.1 on my A500+. Since I use it FinalWriter won't save ASCII-Files. Everytime I open up "Save as.../Export..." the requester stays empty or displays some strange chars like "¼ /®w þ ®þ" or something like this. In both cases I can't choose wether I want to save my Text in ASCII or FW-format, means there is no reaction if I click somewhere inside the requester. I tried a fiew things by changing the behaviour of the e-matrix like disabeling the MMU or the caches but nothing (except the speed) changes. After this I reconnected my old Blizzard and all works fine. Again I connected the e-matrix and got the same problem. I don't know if it is clear for everybody, but FinalWriter development as for other Softwood programs was dropped. They weren't making enough money from it. They are probably not making any software development form any platform at all. My idea is to gather many signatures to present a petition to Woody Williams, in that we ask for FinalWriter source code. The point is to have it and fix any remaining bugs as well add small features. We could setup a CVS development tree that would allow several developers to work concurrently over the Internet on FinalWriter improvements. This would be similar to what Netscape is doing with the Communicator. So Softwood would not be giving the rights to anybody. But we could distribute patchs that could apply to existing versions of FinalWriter. What do you think? Man sollte sich auf einen gemeinsamen Nenner einigen. Dies ist nun einmal englisch. Jedoch gibt es auch Amiga User die des Englischen nicht so mächtig sind. Daher mein Vorschlag: Deutsch sprechende User können in deutsch schreiben, sollten aber ihr Hauptthema (also um was es geht) in englisch wiederholen. Falls jemand gar kein Englisch kann, findet sich doch sicherlich jemand, der es auch in Englisch in die Liste schreibt. Englisch sprechende User sollten ein wenig Verständnis dafür aufbringen... The answer of your questions: I believe it's an OLD Bughint for FW. SizeWindow is a number field in MCP preferences (Windows move, Windows resize). Thew meaning of SizeWindow is that you can define the size of an area from which on only the border of the window will be visible when moving. I tried this on my system and managed to get it to work. FinalWriter was on it own partition called WP (imaginative arn't I). I created a drawer on my DH5: partition called FW and copied the contents of WP into DH5:FW and then I renamed WP. I then ran FinalWriter and tried to load a document with a choice of font and clipart and got the requester stating that it could not find xxx font. I then typed assign WP: DH5:FW and tried to reopen the same document and all the fonts and clipart loaded without another requester. Mine is simple to do since I keep the wordprocessor on its own partition to reduce this kind of problem which first happend to me when I upgraded from FinalCopy II to FinalWriter 3, the fonts moved from FCFonts to FWFonts, didn't I have fun with that. It is really very helpful for users of FinalWriter. Thank you. Now I want to mention the one thing I most wish was available on FinalWriter. It is something I didn't see mentioned by anyone else. I would like to have a decent endnotes; one that can be updated without starting all over. I use FinalWriter a great deal for putting my genealogy (family history) research onto paper. I use endnotes a lot for listing my references/documentation. Often after I have done a first typing, I will find some additional information that I have to write in that section of the family. It would be very useful if I could now update the endnotes, so that the numbers and references all changed to reflect the position. Unfortunately, I have to either put this new information at the end of the section, or else start the endnotes all over again. I finally completely gave up on using the endnotes section, and am now back to doing it the old-fashioned manual way; as a completely separate section that I can rearrange when changes are needed. This is not as hard as having to start the endnotes all over. Despite this one complaint, I truly do find FinalWriter to be very good and easy-to-use word processing program.
