I have modelled a bottle (beer bottle to be exact). Now I want to add labels to it. I have scanned in front, back and neck labels off a beer bottle, and now want to map those labels onto my object. The problem is that I cannot get the labels to map on properly. I am wrapping them around the Z axis, no problem there, but the white appears pink in colour - the bottle is green in colour and has the appropriate settings to look like proper glass. I have attached the bottle & the brushmap. Any idea what the solution to my problem is? ---------------------------------- Date: Thu, 7 May 1998 21:09:54 -0500 From: "Stephen G." Peter, It would help all of us if you could upload a picture of what you are talking about. Also, a really nice texture for creating decals is Mark Willis' decal texture. It allow use of alpha channels which work better for most situations. ---------------------------------- Date: Thu, 7 May 1998 22:11:26 -0400 From: Jason Miller Peter, You need to set the filter to 0 where your map is applied. ---------------------------------- Date: Fri, 8 May 1998 07:36:07 +0200 From: Peter Borcherds Hi there Just in case the server rejects the attachments again, you can get the brushmap and object at the following site : http://users.iafrica.com/p/pr/prb/bottleprob.htm Bear in mind that this decal is a neck label, and therefore has to go onto the neck of the bottle. Thanks. ---------------------------------- Date: Thu, 21 May 1998 11:34:28 +0200 From: Salvatore Cagliari Organization: CKS Imagination Hi Peter Sorry for the delay. I am very busy with the desing of my webpage. Now I've found time for your problem. Unfortunately I can't open your object. It is in the new 32Bit IOB-Format. It's not supported from IFA :-((. Now I have created the object attached, and make a Black and White copy of your Brush. I've added it as an Filter-Map, and ta-taa, see the attached Quick.jpg. It seems that this could be the solution of your Problem. It has an ugly frame around the brush. I think that it is because I have to move the brushes 0.5 Units from the obj-surface away. I hope that you can do it better with a little bit more time. In case that this could help you, please inform me. I look to include it in my Imagine Database (AMIGA only). I hope this is a little help to you. Greetings ---------------------------------- From: "Peter Borcherds" Organization: Internet Africa Date: Thu, 21 May 1998 22:38:21 +0200 Hi Salvatore Thanks for replying - no problem about the delay - after all the web-page comes first (I know, I've been trying to re-do mine for the last few months!!!) > Now I've found time for your problem. Unfortunately I can't open your object. > It is in the new 32Bit IOB-Format. It's not supported from IFA :-((. Oops...sorry...forgot about that. > Now I have created the object attached, Now why didn't I think of that!! Damn simple (and it works too!!) As for the frame around yours, I had the same problem, till I rendered in Trace mode - problem solved!! Okay, all is fine...except.....please have a look at my page again - http://users.iafrica.com/p/pr/prb/bottleprob.htm - I have added the rendered image - do you see the problem? The brushmap is stretched....any idea how I can overcome this - brushmaps always give me trouble!! Please let me know if you find a solution for my other problem. I'm going to post a message on the IML as well, just in case someone else also knows the answer. Thanks. ---------------------------------- From: "Peter Borcherds" Date: Mon, 8 Jun 1998 21:44:28 +0200 Hi Salvatore Sorry for the delay in replying - I have now finished moving and have just unpacked the last box. Now just to start painting and general fixing up!! Now, what colour should I paint the lounge........ > How do you have solved your problem with the streching of the map? Ok, very simple - thanks to Charles Blaquiere...... I just enlarged the canvas area of the picture (in Photoshop) - basically just added black areas around the sides of the decal. I made the decal take up 1/3 of the picture (see attached files). Then I just applied the filter map, wrapped it around the Z-axis (cylinder wrapped) and then added the colour map, also wrapped. I then did the same with the front label, rendered.....and Voila!! Now all I have to do is to get rid of the areas which show up on the corners when I raytrace - you can see it is a picture with square corners, I just have to work out a way to remove them. If only it was possible to have a picture which did not have straight edges (if you know what I mean?) So, there you go. Actually quite simple. I now have to try to incorporate this bottle into a scene....... Till later - happy rendering! Ciao, ----------------------------------
