I plugged it into my computer and this was my first experience with the modem and BBS world. I soon logged onto a few BBS's, and got to know how it all worked. One SysOp showed me his BBS, and explained it all to me in more detail. I became involved, and wanted my own BBS. Late 1994 or so, I started my own small BBS using MAXs BBS 1.54 and this was my first encounter with MAXs. I then moved around and the BBS went with me. I then thought about programming and another SysOp got me started and helped me out. Before I knew it, I was programming a heap of doors for the great MAXs BBS, first door evolving in 1995 and many more doors created, right up till now. I only learn what I need to know to program for MAXs doors only and this is just as a part-time hobby for me, with running a BBS! Yes, I could become a great programmer if I wanted too, but no thanks, I'm happy with what I know and can create for the great MAXs BBS! :-) Hey, I still don't even understand half the code I write! Eeek, hehe. And I still manage to write a shitload of MAXs doors, and decent at that!? o I started my BBS, which was 1stly named as Gremlin BBS. This BBS name was the 1st I came up with, it stuck... but later changed to Gremlins. I started my 24 Hr BBS in Townsville, QLD, then moved to Melbourne, VIC and went online there, then moved back to Townsville (Mar-95) and again online (but only part-time). Moved back to Melbourne (Sep-95) & didn't go back online till 25th April 96, which is the BBS's birthday even though it's not the true BBS's birthday, as GREMLiNS BBS had been online longer since that date, it was considered a turning point, and the true beginning of the BBS, as I saw it. The BBS went to two lines in mid-97 and was doing extremely well. I took on Fluffy Net and took on MAXsPRO during these days online in Melbourne. Then sadly, I moved again in Oct-97 but for a good reason (..Zeffy). I moved to Brisbane, QLD and the BBS did not go back online till Mar-98, and here I am now! o I've had a total 4 Co-SysOps, help run the BBS. I've had more than 30 users donate to the BBS (over $300 in total). Have had 2 BBS losses & 3 times have started my BBS from scratch (re-worked). I've gone thru' and lost a keyboard, monitor and 2 HD's during the BBS years. Am onto my 3rd modem. Have had a total of 7 lines installed for the BBS since all my moves (..holy shit!), that's about $1200 I've spent and that's not including the 100's of dollars in phone calls (..ouch)! I think I am one of the most dedicated BBS SysOps on Earth, and all for MAXs! And I certainly have the right to boast about that! :) It's addictive. o I've assisted many new SysOps & have helped set up heaps of new BBS's in Australia, using MAXs BBS (..of course), with what I know. o I love to hear from MAXs SysOps across the world, and recieve and send emails all the time, and love to help those who ask for it, for MAXs..
