Since Peter has decided to go the IBM route, I'll be attempting to "take on" the continued development of the files he has authored in the past. Overview: ~~~~~~~~ FPAV (FP Archive Viewer) allows the user online to view or get info on ANY TYPE of file that is WITHIN any .LZX, .LHA, .LZH, .RUN or .ZIP archive. It should work on multinode systems, but let me know if it's not so!! Installation: ~~~~~~~~~~~~ 1) Copy the "FPAV/" directory into your "FPFiles/" directory if you have one, or else CREATE an "FPFiles/" directory somewhere on your system and then copy the "FPAV/" directory INTO this directory. NOTE: All Dotoran released "FP" files will reside inside this "FPFiles/" directory, so it is HIGHLY recommended that you do the same with this program as well. 2) Inside the "FPAV/" directory is another directory called "UTILS/". Inside of this directory are numerous utilities you MAY choose to use with FPAV to take the full advantage of it's power. Whether or not you choose to use these utilities it completely up to you, as you'll be able to specify which programs you'd like to use from within the "FPAV" file itself. NOTE: You also need the Xpk libraries to get the decrunching of Xpk packed files! If you want to play the full range of mods using DeliTracker, then you need some DeliPlayers too. These are not included in this archive, but should be available on most large PD boards! (Also required is LhA, Zip and Unzip) 3) Load CNet CONFIG and select "Archivers...". Edit the "View format" entry for .LZX, .LHA, .LZH, .RUN and .ZIP to look EXACTLY like this: rx FPFiles/FPAV/FPAView %s "%s" NOTE: The double quote marks(" ") are VERY IMPORTANT in this line. If you neglect to include them, some archives may give you errors when a user tries to "examine" them. NOTE: .LZX and .RUN are not defined in the default CNet Configuration, so you may need to create these as NEW. The only option that you NEED to define is the "View format" option. 4) To activate the ability to view unpacked pictures locally, you'll also need to repeat step 3 above for the extensions: .IFF, .GIF, .JPG, .PCX, .ANI, etc. NOTE: Again, if any of these are not present in the "Archivers..." list, then simply create them as new. Only the "View format" option HAS to be defined. 5) Now load your BBSTEXT file into a text editor and go to line 1067: \n1NOTE: can not find "%s" ...\n1 ^ ^ Control-Y Control-Y CHANGE the line, as it looks above, so it reads: {#0FPFiles/FPAV/FPAV %s} ^ Control-Q NOTE: Replace the above with the exact path location you chose to store the FPAV/ directory in Step # 1. 6) Save, then reload the BBSTEXT file and you're ready to use FPAV!! Whenever a user now selects to use the "E"xtract command on a file with one of the extensions defined in Step # 3(or a LOCAL user uses it on a file with an extension defined in Step # 4), they will get an archive listing as usual, but at the end of the listing, there will be a prompt so the user can select if they want to read or get info on some of the files in the archive. User Commands: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The following input forms can be entered from the given prompt. The use of CNet Ranges is HIGHLY recommended too: 1 View file 1. 1-6 View files 1,2,3,4,5, and 6. 1,3! View files 1 and 3 in Quick Mode. - View ALL files in the archive! ? Show the Help Screen. 1,4,7-11 View files 1,4,7,8,9,10, and 11. If the file is a TEXT file, it will be displayed on the screen. There is an option within FPAV that allows the SysOp to define Access Groups that can view the ENTIRE document. The other Access Groups will only be shown the first 3K of the text file, and will then be told they need to DOWNLOAD the archive(or file) if they wish to read more! If the file is an EXECUTABLE, FPAV will try to extract the version info of that file. If the file is another archive (.LZH, .LHA, .LZX, or .ZIP only) it will then show the contents of that archive, and the user can then select the files he wants to view from that archive. (NOTE: Returning back to the previous archive and resuming viewing is not possible when viewing an archive inside another archive.) If the file is NOT TEXT, ARCHIVE or EXECUTABLE, then FPAV will try to identify the file, and show some info on it. As of v2.0, FPAV now has several new options available: -Module Playing! (LOCAL Mode Only!) -IFF Sound Playing! (LOCAL Mode Only!) -Viewing of: IFF/GIF/PCX/JPEG and ANIMS! (LOCAL Mode Only!) -Re-displaying the archive after Adding/Killing or Viewing items! -Built in Help Screen (Shows the commands available to user) -Info on .GIF files (More to come!) SysOp Commands: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If the user has SysOp access, 3 more options are available: A Add a file to the archive. (You can change the var RMO in the "FPAV" file to get this to work in LOCAL Mode ONLY!) D Download files from archive. (Doesn't display any text/info on the file. If the user is local, then FPAV will prompt for a path to copy to.) K Kill (delete) files from archive. (Use this with CARE!!) NOTE1: If the line is terminated with an '!', the SysOp options will skip the yes/no prompts, just like CNet! NOTE2: Adding or Killing files to/from archives WITHIN another archive is NOT POSSIBLE! The archive size in CNet stays the same after Killing or Adding files to/from an archive. - Use TR(ansform) on the archive to update the archive's actual size! Here are a few examples: A Enter Add mode. A new prompt asks for the Path/File to add. D1,5-7 Download files 1,5,6 and 7. K1,5 Kill (delete) files 1 and 5, with yes/no prompts. K1,5! Kill (delete) files 1 and 5, without yes/no prompts. Configuration: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Starting with v2.25, FPAV now uses an external config file. You'll find this file as "FPFiles/FPAV/FPAV.cfg", which has these entries: ; Enable Module Playing & Picture Viewing LOCALLY? (0=No, 1=Yes) local=1 ; Allow remote Sysop(s) to use "Add to Archives" command? (0=No, 1=Yes) rmo=0 ; How much MEMORY(in KB) should ALWAYS be available to the system? fmem=300 - If your TOTAL FREE MEMORY - SIZE OF ARCHIVE to Extract is LESS than this value, the user will be told the archive is TOO BIG to unpack. ; How many BYTES of a text file may a user read, before breaking? maxsz=2000 ; The Access Groups that may only view the above bytes of text. lamers="0 1 2 3" - The leading and trailing SPACES are NO LONGER NEEDED in FPAV. Do NOT use CNet Ranges with this value. Specify EACH Access Group separately and use AT LEAST one SPACE between each entry. ; The Access Groups that may Download files from Archives. dag="28 29 30 31" - Follow the same rules as with the Access Groups above. ; Show expanded(full) paths in extract listings? (0=No, 1=Yes, 2=Ask User) paths=2 - NEW to 2.25 is the ability to show the user the COMPLETE PATHS the files inside the archive are using, so that they can get a feel for the directory structure used within the archive. Set to 0 or 1 will "hardcode" the setting, while set to "2" will ASK the user how they wish to view the information. If "expanded paths" is chosen, the file creation dates and times are suppressed from the listing in order to give way for the complete paths. The original and packed file sizes, as well as the pack ratio are presented in BOTH listings. ; are not needed in any of the following program locations IF the ; files exist somewhere in your designated PATHS command. This could come in handy if you wanted to use a program with extra features, like search or print, etc. ; Full Path and Filename of your Delitracker Player. deli="DH2:DeliTracker_II/DeliTracker2" ; The 10 MCI-Colors to use in FPAV's Extract Listings. color="\ce \cd \cf \ca \c9 \cb \cf \ce \c9 \cb" - These 10 codes let you customize the following data items: - \ce - Color of the column headings. - \cd - Color of the separator lines(equals signs or ibm graphics) - \cf - Item number. - \ca - Original File Size(in bytes). - \c9 - Packed File Size(in bytes). - \cb - File Compression Ratio. - \cf - File Creation/Modification Date. - \ce - File Creation/Modification Time. - \c9 - The "+" specifier(on the unexpanded view) - \cb - The filename(or path/filename) for this item. - You can use any valid MCI Color Codes here, but there MUST be 10 of them on this line, each separated with AT LEAST one SPACE. Known Bugs: ~~~~~~~~~~~ When playing a Module in local mode, it activates the Delitracker window. I would have prefered it to return to CNet's window, but I haven't found a way to do it. (YET!) Some files with ' or " will be impossible to view/delete due to Arexx's way of handling variables! 2.x Users Only!: The AmigaGuide program has a bug, when using public screens. It opens a requester everytime you view a guide file!
