Alternatively, it may be started from the user-startup by inserting the following line: run nil: MReset You will also need to copy the program into your path if you use the second method. @endnode @node WhatIsMR " What is Mouse Reset ? " @next MRHist Mouse Reset is a simple program which provides a single window at the top of the screen. The window is composed of a close gadget, depth gadget, non- standard drag-bar and the reset button (To the left of the Depth Gadget). When the reset button is double-clicked, it will cause a soft reboot. RAD disks will survive this. Mouse Reset is a commodity, but it doesn't have a hot key (Why would it?). Starting the commodity a second time quits the program. The DragBar is very non-standard. This was due to the fact that I wanted to place the reset button in the title Bar. The window "Sticks" to the pointer, and stops when released. Also non-standard is the auto-close facility. If workbench is closed, MReset will also close. When Workbench re-opens, so does MReset. It will take account of any changes to screen mode, font size, etc when reopening (This means that when you change a preference, you don't have to close MReset). @endnode @node MRHist " History of Mouse Reset " @next DJKHist Major Bugs found in most versions (during Go-Away,Come-Back cycles) before version 7. Mouse Reset was written in assembler. Mouse Reset 1.0 Size:1332 --------------- The original. Just responded immediately, rather than from double click Mouse Reset 2.0 Size:1856 --------------- Double Click added. As this program is so simple, this was a major change. Hence, the change from 1.0 to 2.0 Mouse Reset 3.0 Size:2088 --------------- Added custom gadget (bit awkward to use) and added go-away feature Mouse Reset 3.5 Size:3420 --------------- Cleaned up version 3.0 . Really goes away well. Version 3.6 Size:3604 ----------- Custom gadget larger. Now working on Version 4 (Commodity) Version 4.0 Size:5960 ----------- Full Commodity compatability. Only supported method of killing. Took a while to perfect. Version 5.0 Size:5856 ----------- Moved Button. made it larger. Can now move button about. Planning something very interesting. Versions 5.1 & 5.2 Size:5868 & 5888 ------------------ Minor improvements. Put these programs to my tester, who found a major bug. Version 6.0 (1st Release) Size:4560 ----------- Totally different program. Internally it is slightly cleaner, and all of the routines have been re-written.(PS - turn WB onto 8 colours) Version 7.0 Size:3840 ----------- Slightly cleaner still. Window drag changed. Still got a 8 colour button, if you want it. I'm not sure myself where the 720 bytes went, because for some reason, I have lost my source for Version 6. Hence, the decision to re-write the program. Working on reducing size still further. Version 7.05 Size:3788 ------------ Minor re-working. Changed button from an image to a border. Hence will not crash on machines with fast ram (Ooops! I only have chip ram). Also, 52 bytes smaller. Ha Ha Ha. Version 7.05 Size:3820 ------------ I know, it is the same version number. Just changed the dragging routine slightly, so as to make the window be on top during dragging. This was preferable to losing the window behind large ones. Standards are made to be broken, and this dragging operation is in no way "illegal". Still smaller than version 6.0. Version 7.1 Size:5332 ----------- Re-written a great deal. It is finally font and screen mode sensitive. It will automatically close when Workbench does. It's lovely. @endnode @node DJKHist " About the author " @next dummy I am currently 18 and currently studying at university. I have been programming for about a year now. I have several other projects on the go, which will come along soon. I would be interested in letters from people who write in 100% assembler, as well as other letters. If you want to contact me then write a letter to: D J Knapman 1 Frogmore Fareham Hants PO14 3AU (England) I have three E-Mail addresses, which I can only use during term time, but here they are: djk102@york.ac.uk djk102@ug.cs.york.ac.uk headpixie@geocities.com Thanks to Gareth, who tested the program, and found a big bug. Version 7.1 has been tested on an A1200 so far. Any bug results more than welcome. @endnode @node dummy " The End " @endnode
