What do I need to run it? ------------------------- Any Amiga with WB2.04+. What files should I have? ------------------------- In this distribution, there should be the following files: Browse Browse.info Browse.doc Browse.doc.info Copyright & Distribution ------------------------ Browse is FREEWARE. That means you can copy it and freely distribute it (including uploading to a BBS/Aminet etc.), as long as: - You don't charge anything for it (except a nominal charge for disk and copying) - You include all the files listed above in any distribution. - You don't modify any files. (For inclusion on compilation CDs or magazine coverdisks/cover CDs, contact me. Any other queries, contact me. No permission is necessary for inclusion on Aminet or Fred Fish CDs.) Why write Browse? ----------------- I wrote Browse because I sometimes wanted to very quickly look through my hard drive and couldn't be bothered to wait for Workbench to display each directory. Of course, there are utilities like Directory Opus but they are a bit over the top just for a very quick glance at a directory. Hence I wrote Browse. It's small. It's fast. OK, what does it do exactly? ---------------------------- Browse simply displays an ASL file requester which you can then use to look through directories. By default, it does not show .info files but can be made to do so. How do I use it? ---------------- Simply call it from the CLI using: Browse with options: DIRECTORY/A,SHOWICONS/S where DIRECTORY is the directory to open in and SHOWICONS is an option which will show .info files (these are normally suppressed). For example, to open Browse in the RAM: directory, type: Browse RAM: If you want to include .info files, use: Browse RAM: SHOWICONS The directory is optional. If none is supplied, Browse will open in the current directory. Alternatively, you can run Browse from Workbench. There is currently no way to show .info files when starting from WB. If you would like this feature, let me know and I'll add it as a tooltype. Future Improvements ------------------- What more could I do? Browse is such a tiny little program I don't think there's much more I could do to it, except possibly add a Workbench tooltype to show/hide .info files.
