Easy Guide is I hope the easiest way to creat Amigaguide docs When you run Easy Guide you will be presented with an .asl file selector. just choose the text file you want to convert then choose the destination for your newly created guide, and hey presto! its done!! :-)) For any of you who do not get the asl.filerequester you can type from CLI 1> easyguide Path:text.doc path:text.guide Where Path:text.doc is the name of your text to be converted and Path:Text.guide is the path and the name of the guide to save as. Just to show you how east it is.. when you quit from this text, run easyguide and convert this text file. When you have done it you MUST!! read through this text file again and make sure you read all of this!! text and not the .guide version or you will get confused as this is just a demonstration for your benifit. and take note of the 2 markers below using the <*>. one has 4(begining) the other has 6 (end), always leave an empty line between the end and begining of a new section as below. <******> <****>"Preparing your doc" Start your favorite text editor and load in your text. All you do now is mark the begining and the end of each chapter in your text like so.. <******> <****>"Demo Title" The marker above with 4 starts * is the begining of your chapter and the title The title also is used as the name of your button in the Amigaguide. The marker below with 6 stars * marks the end of the chapter notice that there are 4 * at the top and 6 * at the bottom, dont forget the < > <******> <****>"To sum up" If you go back to the original text file you will notice markers made up from a combination of stars ** and < > with the title of the chapter inside The " " quotes. Just seperate your sections or chapters with these markers and Easy Guide will do all the hard work. <******> <****>"Troubleshooting" IMPORTANT! I have successfully tested Easyguide on an A1200 by formating a blank disk creating a libs(drawer) with the asl.library only! inside libs and Easyguide in the root directory. Now booting from this disk into CLI I now type 1>easyguide The asl.filerequester appears and easyguide works! fine. WOW!! realy very bad! unless you had about 4mgs easyguide would not work for you. I got rid of that nasty! space that appeared in the title string. alot of you were finding it hard to load converted amigaguide text in to multiview. The only solution I could find was to ensure that you have the Amigaguide.datatype in your Datatypes (Drawer) Without it you get errors tested with asl.library V39.4 amigaguide.datatype V39.15 Please note the extra 4 * and <> and 6 * and<> and " " at the bottom include these for now Leave at least 1 empty line before each section. <******> <****>" " include this section in all your guides you may however delete this line only. <******>
