FileClassPrefs is an utility for Searcher and IconAct. It edits the FileClass.prefs preference file which contains informations about file types.

@{b}IMPORTANT :@{ub} Searcher and IconAct use the list from the top to the bottom. So the ASCII type must be after the Amigaguide and all the others types who are in ASCII format. The same problem appear for others types (executable and library, for example).

The number of file types is limited to 100.

This gadget show the list of the types.

This gadget show the current type.

Every type can be identify with three strings. This gadget can select one of this.

This gadget edits the adress of the current ID string.

Every file type have strings include in the file. That why it's possible to recognize them.

This gadget edit the current ID string of the selected type.

For an alphanumerique string, simply tape it.
For an hexadecimal string, tape $ before.

For the ASCII format, tape [ASCII] with any adress number (0 for example).

This string is the filter of the type. This is a string which appear in the name of the file. @{b}DON'T@{ub} use any wildcard !

This button opens a requester. Select an utility.

EXAMPLE :

[f]    : the file as argument
[REQP] : open a path requester
[REQV] : open a volume requester. You can also enter a complete path.

This utility is run if the selected type and the file type are the same.
