Aurora Works

Another Canadian-based company has arrived in the Amiga games market. They announced a lot of new titles, you will find a complete preview of Zone 99 in our Preview section, but there are also some other titles of wich we haven't a lot of info. Their second title announced (the first is Zone 99) is Betrayed that should be an adventure game released for Xmas 1997, they've also announced a space-strategy game called Galactic Conquest, the second part of Betrayed and a 3D texture mapped starship simulation. All that games will work on hi-end Amigas, Aurora Works infact plans to create a range of games that will utilize the power of AGA and 68030; they also plans to port their games to Phase 5's A\Box and to Power Amigas.

QUAKE on Amiga!!!

Someone (NOT ID Software!) decided that QUAKE was possible for the Amiga and started porting the 3D engine of ID new game for our beloved machine. Now a DEMO is avaible, next month we will test how good it is. But until now you can download the demo and judge by yourself. Please note that a very fast processor (possibly a 060) and the data files from the PC version are required. The DEMO is avaible for download at:

Eagle and Phase 5 will build the new Amiga

Eagle (the makers of the A4000TE, the only licensed Amiga clone in Europe) and Phase 5 will produce a new version of the A4000 based on the new Power UP boards. At the moment we have not many news but the project should be ready for the Spring of 1997 (may be it'll be presented to the CEBit '97, like PIOS One from PIOS).

New games from Vulcan!

Here we have a complete list of games that will be released from Vulcan during 1997, there are also some new titles:
Breed 2000 (we reviewed the shareware version some months ago but this one should be even better), Five Aside Football, Pinball Brain Damage AGA, Wasted Dreams, Jet Pilots Expansion Disk (3D landascape), Cold Blood AGA, Uropa 2, Hellpigs, Strangers AGA, Burnout Expansion Disk (4 additional cars), Ultra Violent Worlds AGA, Genetic Species, Hell Pigs CD version, The Enforcer, Valhalla IV, Alien Olympics.
At the moment we have only this list without any further information.

Capital Punisment 1.1

Clik BOOM has released a free upgrade for this superb beat'em up. The version 1.1 will fix Apollo boards compatibility, some loading problems and won't require the 040 or 060.libraries. Clik BOOM has changed WEB address to:

Quickpack will buy Amy Tech.?

Qickpack, the american A4000 builder, has announced that had made an offer to Escom liquidator to buy Amy Tech. At the moment there are few news but Quickpack stated that they would continue to develop the hi-end Amigas porting the Amiga OS to Alpha processors (and not to Power PC like Phase 5 and PIOS wants). There are rumors that another giant wants to obtain the control over Amiga technology, this is not confirmed yet but IBM could have made an offer to ESCOM liquidator considering Amiga OS the ideal operating system for their Power PC computers.

The new Voyager and IBrowse

The new versions of the Amiga's best browsers, IBrowse 1.10 and Voyager The Next Generation will support FRAMES! Voyager TNG will also support progressive loading of images, tables, HTML 3.2 tags, GIF anims and CyberGFX. PIOS One the new Amiga.

At CEBit 97 PIOS will present his new computer based on Power PC processor and P-OS. This is a very interesting fact because PIOS One (this is the neme of the computer) will be compatible with any Amiga running P-OS (the operating system written by ProDad), so every Amiga application could be re-compiled to run under P-OS giving to this new computer an immense software library. Another good news is the price, PIOS One will cost only 1500DM. At the moment should be avaible the Storm C/C++ compiler for that platform enabling every programmer to create software compatible with this new computer.

Aurora Works

Un' altra software house Canadese è arrivata nel mercato dei giochi per Amiga. Hanno annunciato un sacco di nuovi titoli, troverete un' anticipazione completa di Zone 99 nella nostra sezione dedicata alle Anticipazioni, ma ci sono anche molti altri titoli di cui non abbiamo molte informazioni. Il loro secondo titolo annunciato (il primo è Zone 99) è Betrayed che dovrebbe essere una avventura grafica disponibile per Natale 97, hanno anche annunciato un gioco di strategia spaziale chiamato Galactic Conquest, la seconda parte di Betrayed e un non meglio identificato simulatore di astronave in 3D texture mapping. Tutti questi giochi saranno disegnati per Amiga dell'ultima generazione, Aurora Works infatti vuole creare una serie di giochi che sfruttino appieno la potenza dell'AGA e del 68030; prevedono anche un porting dei loro titoli per A\Box e per Power Amiga.

QUAKE su Amiga!!!

Qualcuno (NON la ID Software!) ha ben pensato che QUAKE fosse realizzabile su Amiga e ha cominciato il porting del motore 3D dell'ultimo gioco degli ID per il nostro amato computer. Ora è disponibile un DEMO, il prossimo mese testeremo quanto sia valido. Ma fino ad allora potete downloadare il demo e giudicare per conto vostro. Notate però che sono richiesti un processore molto veloce (possibilmente uno 060) e i files di dati dalla versione PC . Il DEMO è disponibile per il download presso:

Eagle e Phase 5 costruiranno il nuovo Amiga

Eagle (i costruttori dell'A4000TE, al momento unica azienda in Europa licenziataria dei diritti di costruzione di un clone Amiga) e Phase 5 produrranno una nuova versione dell'A4000 basata sulle nuove schede Power UP. Al momento non abbiamo molte notizie ma il progetto dovrebbe essere pronto per la primavera del 1997 (probabilemte sarà presentato al CEBit '97, come il PIOS One di PIOS).

Nuovi giochi dalla Vulcan!

Eccovi una lista completa dei giochi che sarano pubblicati dalla Vulcan durante il 1997, ci sono anche alcune novità:

Quickpack alla scalata di Amy Tech.?

Qickpack, il costruttore americano degli A4000, ha annunciato di aver fatto un'offerta al liquidatore Escom per acquistare Amy Tech. Al momento ci sono poche notizie ma Quickpack ha dichiarato l'intenzione di continuare lo sviluppo degli Amiga hi-end portando Amiga OS sui processori Alpha (contrariamente a quanto intendono fare Phase 5 e PIOS). Ci sono anche voci che un altro gigante voglia ottenere il controllo della tecnologia Amiga, tutto ciò non è confermato ma IBM potrebbe aver fatto un'offerta al liquidatore ESCOM considerando Amiga OS il sistema operativo ideale per i loro computer basati su Power PC.

Le nuove versioni di Voyager e IBrowse

Le nuove versioni dei migliori browser per Amiga, IBrowse 1.10 e Voyager The Next Generation supporteranno le FRAMES! Voyager TNG avrà anche (cose che comunque IBrowse ha già) il caricamento progressivo delle immagini, le tables, supporto totale delle tag HTML 3.2, GIF animate e supporto CyberGFX. PIOS One il nuovo Amiga.

Al CEBit 97 PIOS presenterà il suo nuovo computer basato sul Power PC e su P-OS. Questa è una notizia molto interessante perchè PIOS One (questo è il nome del computer) sarà compatibile con qualunque Amiga su cui giri P-OS (il sistema operativo scritto da ProDad), quindi qualunque applicazione per Amiga potrà essere ricompilata per funzionare sotto P-OS rendendo disponibile già da subito un ampio parco software a questo neonato computer. Un'altra buona notizia riguarda il prezzo, PIOS One costerà solo 1500DM. Al momento dovrebbe essere disponibile il compilatore Storm C/C++ per P-OS permettendo così a chiunque di programmare software compatibile con questo computer.
