Well before you go just take a look at what it can do. - A nice brick wall effect in ANSI mode. - Supports any screen length (almost). - Support for ANSI COLOUR or ASCII. - Centres the text on the wall. - An option for the users to see who wrote each line of text! - Even in ASCII mode the users can still select the colour for when a ANSI users views his text. - The tilde '~' command is automatically removed from any text, so no more shitty messages like, 'Oi [user name] call Bla Bla BBS on 12121819128'. - Ban list, stop certain users from entering text. They can read the wall but not write on it. Why? Well I hate users who keep entering BBS adds etc. And those users who slag off the sysop. ;) To do... - MORE THAN ONE SCREEN I.E. FLIP SCREEN, BY DEFAULT ONLY SHOWING THE LAST SCREEN, BUT USER HAS OPTION TO READ THROUGH IT ALL? - CENSOR MODE, WITH A DATA FILE SO YOU CAN ENTER ALL THE WORDS YOU WOULD NOT LIKE TO APPEAR ON YOUR WALL. - 16 COLOUR, AT THE MO ITS ONLY 8 :( - SYSOP CONFIGURATION MENU - MULTI-NODE SUPPORT - ANYTHING YOU WANT! .------------. | Installing | `------------' Just unpack the archive into your Rexx: dir then add an option to one of your menus like: CMD = "W" { rexx "Rexx:BGWALL/BGWALL.REXX ~14" } You can also have in running on login, just add it to your fake/login menu. Once started the door will check for the data file, if it doesn't exist it will then generate one. Once the data file is loaded or generated the wall is displayed in all its glory and the users is prompted with an option bar. .----------. | Updating | `----------' If you all ready have BG-Wall on your BBS all you need to do is copy the new 'BGWALL.REXX' file over the old one. The format of the data file has remained the same so you don't have to restart your wall. Also see 'Configuration'. .---------------. | Bugs/Problems | `---------------' As far as I know all bugs have been removed. They could in theory though be a problem if the BBS/Amiga crashes while the data file is being saved, as this could result in the data file being corrupted. If this happens simple delete the data file 'BGWALL.DAT' and the program will generate a new data file. .---------------. | Configuration | `---------------' Sorry people no config file yet :( This will be in the next release as its getting a bit silly having to edit the REXX source. REAL NAMES OR ALIAS: You can set the wall to record the real name or the alias of the user who entered the text (name is shown when someone selects [W]ho wrote what?). To do this edit line '33' so 'ali' = '1' for Alias or '0' for real names. PATH: If you don't like this path (REXX:BGWALL/) then edit the lines '91' and '92' in the BGWALL.REXX source to point to the location you wish the door to run from. MENUSETS: BGWALL responds to ASCII or ANSI colour. The default setting is menuset 0 = ASCII mode and any menu set higher than 0 = ANSI (8 colour) mode. If this is incorrect for your set up then edit line '67' in the BGWALL.REXX source to reflect your menusets. BANING A USER FROM ENTERING TEXT ON THE WALL: Load the 'BAN.DAT' file into your favourite text editor (ASCII) and enter the user name(s) that you want banned from entering text on the wall. The names must be on there own line like so Ben Gaunt Clint Mays Jonny Dept The matching isn't case sensitive so... ben gaunt CLINT MAYS jonnY dept will be interpreted the same as the list before. To un-ban a users simply delete the line that users name is on. ** IMPORTANT!!! ** Banned users will still be able to view the wall etc but not enter text onto it. .---------------------------------. | Freeware/Shareware/Licenceware? | `---------------------------------' Well as you know this door is freeware but I would like all you Xenolink sysops who use this door to NetMail/e-mail me and say how you use the door. IE: run during the login phase or as an option on a menu. This will help me when I finaly getting round to doing a config file for the wall. Alias or Real names can now be logged. V1.05 - 9th July 1996 Exams over, no more Uni... So time to update the wall ;) Added 'BAN.DAT' file, to ban certain users from entering text. Fixed a display bug when a users doesn't enter any text. Made [G]een option read [G]reen, oops :-/ Added display syntax error message. Fixed little colour bug if you use the door during the login. V1.04 - 29th April 1996 No major changes just cleaned up the code after reading a bit on AREXX. * Not released to the public * V1.03 - 18th March 1996 Fixed bug in the abort command that resulted in an aborted message not being saved, but still displayed on the wall. Cleaned up more of the ASCII display routine. V1.02b - 15th March 1996 Added Abort option in the colour selection stage. Fixed a bug in the ASCII display where lines were not being displayed in the correct order (thanks to Stewart Orr). Removed all 'ESC' codes from the ASCII display routine. * Not released to the public * V1.01b - 2nd March 1996 First public release .--------------------------. |Other Xenolink doors by me| `--------------------------' ** AmiNet Recent Requester ** If you have access to AmiNet then this door is a must. It reads in the AmiNet recent list and lets your users mark files they would like you to download. The door makes a list of all the files requested and what AmiNet dir they are in and who requested them. The list can then be turned into a FTP script and used to automaticly download the files next time you connect to the Internet. ** Requester ** Simple little door where users can place a request for a file you don't have on your BBS. Other users can then view the list and up the requested file(s). ** Home Brew ** Is a private access area, home page type thing for your users. Allows - Private File Area. Private Menus. Limited Access Areas (IE the users has to giver permission). Users can edit and design their own menus. Auto checking (IE users don't go over their HD limit etc).
