(changes for v1.3 at the bottom) The following changes since v1.1 1) Download door did not access the FILEPATHS.TEXT. Fixed now. 2) Due to my idiocy I never realised that Locked files only meant they were un-deletable, SPin 1.1 disallowed download of them. Fixed now. 3) Upload door caused the occasional "Bad Section Count Error", it was only annoying, but it's fixed now. 4) Alias entry did not cross reference with the User.Index, thus a user could use an alias of a user who's already on the board. Fixed now. 5) Files deleted online, or files deleted with the editor whilst a user was still online used to appear in the file list. Fixed now. 6) File_id ansi stripping was in-complete (coz I forgot), fixed now. 7) Added a macro feature to allow the same description to be used for all (or some) files in a batch. 8) Added a "start with (/) for private upload to sysop" To enable this feature you must put the section number of sysop files into SPin.Config. I know this sounds like a total rip off of /X (and it looks like it too ;) ) but with MAXs you can't normally have sysop files at access 5000, and that way a user can download from it (if they know the file name). Now set sysop at 5000, put the section number in SPin.Config, now users can upload to sysop files even if they dont have 5000 access. 9) Allowed user to change the area of any upload they send in a batch. This can be disabled with SPin.Config. I'm creating a util called, FindUpload.exe, here's the reasons why. i) User drops carrier when uploading to BBS:Files/Upload/Demos/ They relog, enter a description or finish upload. File is sent to the DEFAULT files path. ii) User uploads a batch of files for various areas. Only the section numbers change, the physical files go to the path for the section they ORIGINALLY uploaded to. Remeber, it's YOUR responsabilty to d/l this util from me, I've spent enough cash money this month spreading SPin. Note that alongside the coding of the commercial version of SPin I'll be releasing utils and extra doors for the freeware version. It's up to YOU to get these utils. I can no longer spread the stuff myself. There's a Visitor account on my board. So to grab the lastest stuff for SPin at minimum cost login as "Visitor" password = "Password", it'll auto download then twit you. Read the part "Commercial" in SPin.Guide.. coz there's been more suggestions and it's gonna be a real kick ass file base! And 15 quid aint much to ask for a system that not only puts the current file_id.diz base's for MAXs to the challenge, but puts other BBS s/w to the challenge too! --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changes for 1.3 1) Byte ratios. Originally the Commercial version's feature. But since other freeware bases had this feature, I decided to implement it. See SPin.Guide for usage of byte ratios. Tis very simple, but could conflict with other doors. 2) Finally fixed the List Door, It still had probs with nuked files. 3) Real time output for scripts, you type Echo "Ya stoopid lamer" and it'll appear instantly. Previous versions of SPin didn't output anything for the scripts. Note that the Zip.Test will auto kill zips with exe files, so if you allow PC exe's. Adjust it to suit. Also note that a file called RTO will be copied to C: this is simply a util that relays the real time outputs from scripts to the upload door. 4) Added Arc testing, FileId packing, and BBS Ad Stripping/Adding scripts. 5) Read "ReadThisIfYouDontWantHacked!" It's VERY important. Note to the KFB coder, don't flame me, I contacted you about the problem before I released this. It ain't my fault if you dont wanna listen to me. The least you could have done is reply to the mail I called you half way round the world with. The hacking info is ONLY included so you keep your own board secure. I take NO RESPONSABILITY for any people who use this info to hack KFB, DFB or other file_id based BBS's. SPin CAN BE VULNERABLE. But not if you follow the instructions in the "ReadThisIfYouDontWantHacked!" text and all other files related to this matter. 6) Created "FindUpload" a CLI based Util to hunt down a file by scanning your optional file paths and filepaths.text. The installer will copy this to C: alongside all the other new CLI utils (for extraction and testing) 7) Found out that it DIDN'T work with VMem, so it does now :) Thanks for pointing it out to me Serenity. 8) Now updates the "Files Today" string as well as the caller log's "Upload" info. Previously a nuance (which no other file base has so far overcome!) 9) Added estimated download time, warns user if it exceeds their time left. (untestable on a local login) Well thats about it for the update, no more features for SPin 1.x will be added, 2.0 is currently being worked on. XPR libs are almost finished. Hydra working fine. SModem coming soon. And when I return from my holiday a totally new List door will be started to. The other major part of SPin v2 is the local message base! This is gonna be part of SPin because the file/cred nuker will let you mail the user on creds lost/gained. It'll come as a complete local message base, not just part of SPin. I'll also release docs on the message base format, so you peeps can write auto-message sending routines. If you find any bugs in 1.3 then contact me. I'll fix bugs, but no more features, I'm now unemployed and I think I've done enough work for free now, and 15 Uk Pounds aint a hell of lot to pay for a kick ass file base! If you're impressed with SPin so far, you'll love SPin 1.3, and v2 will be a dream come true! Keep posted on my BBS, if you dont live in the UK, then call me and login with the following account UserID = Visitor Password = Password it'll send you the latest version/info and hangup. Alternatively contact me stephen@dcandy.demon.co.uk and I'll get back to you ASAP!
