THE DOG PICTURE ARCHIVE #3 ========================== This long awaited (?) addition to the DoG picture archives is now here, it consists of 5 pictures: nve.jpg New Virtual Eye bluelight.jpg Blue Light Zone integration.jpg Integration d2gi.jpg Delta Squared G Times I supernova.jpg Supernova Of these, only one, NVE, is a pure render, the others are image processed using ImageFX2! New Virtual Eye --------------- This picture is the final incarnation of a sketch I did some years ago (in a maths class) which was truly cool - it is now the final picture as you see it - there is also an animation, but it's rather large, so I won't upload that! Blue Light Zone --------------- This image processed pic is a subtraction of an edge detected picture from a large blue lens flare. A simple idea, and I think it works rather well (myself) - some (name Addie) have expressed dissatisfaction with it though.... Who cares what he thinks? Integration ----------- This picture was created after having exhausted my mind learning Calculus, it actually has NOTHING to do with Calculus, but I quite liked the word - "integration"... cool. Delta Squared G Times I ----------------------- The inspiration for this pic is rather complicated. In the field of Visual Perception, David Marr, the (now dead) leading brain, invented a theory for edge detecting, that theory was DēG*I - Where Delta Squared (Dē) is second derivation of an intensity graph. G*I means Gaussian * Image - basically a Gaussian Blur of an image. Marr proved mathematically (and got an FRS for it) that the second derivation of G*I is mathematically equivalent to the difference of two gaussians (one subtracted from the other!) - and so here you go, the base image has one gaussian subtracted from another gaussian of the same image. The result - edge detection. Also, the contrast was taken up a bit, and some weird shit was added to liven it up a bit. I quite like this pic, but Addie said he hated it because it looks like a frame from a jungle video... pah! What an opinionated sod! Supernova --------- This (simple) but effective image is two blue flames (using the imagefx2 fire effect) faded out at the edges, with some lens flares and a bit of smudging and blurring, and finally, the word "Supernova" added using the font "PCVenus" - an EXCELLENT font!!
