AMIEX 2 FAME CONVERTER PACKAGE BY (tRSi/X-iNNOVATiON)

If you are an Amiex-System and want to switch to the new FAME System, you
have to convert all your needed systemfiles of Amiex if you want to use your
old users/messages/settings, otherwise you must start again with a complete
new BBS. The tools included in this package will help you to convert the
old datafiles.

Here's a list of all tools supplied in this archive:

 AutoPW V1.0       - XIM-Door to collect the User passwords of Amiex

 MsgCompress V1.0  - Compress and clean up a MsgBase from Amiex

 MsgConvert V0.2   - Convert the Amiex MsgBase to the FAME format

 UConvert V0.3     - Convert the Amiex user.datas to the FAME format

 MakeIcon V1.1     - Tool to create all neccessary Amiex Icons

 RexxDoor V1.13    - Use this to emulate the Amiex ArexxPort under FAME

Detailed informations about these doors could be found in the according
textfile (extension .doc).

Here now the recommended way to use these doors and to switch successfully
to FAME:

1. Use the AutoPW door to collect the passwords of your users. Should be
   installed at least one month before changing the system, so your users
   have enough time to enter their Passwords.

2. Before changing, use the MsgCompress util to clean up all MsgBases of
   all conferences you wish to convert to FAME. This prevents you from
   converting old and obselete messages.

3. Now use the MsgConvert utility to convert all MsgBases of all confs
   you wish to use under FAME. MsgConvert will also copy the attached
   files of the given MsgBase, so make sure that enough bytes are free
   on the device where the MsgBase is stored, or the converting may fail
   during less hd-space!

4. Finally you have to convert the user.datas. Please note that UConvert
   won't be able to convert the passwords from the amiex user.datas until
   you have installed and used (!) AutoPW, because this door collects and
   stores all user-passwords in a usable manner, and UConvert takes care
   about the AutoPW Password database. If you don't use AutoPW, UConvert
   will copy for every user his name in the Password field, so you *MUST*
   change yourself the passwords for every user or your system will be
   hackable!!!

5. Before continue with the adapting of the Amiex enviroment, make sure
   that your FAME system is ready for usage, meaning that you have created
   all conferences, nodes, accesses etc. This is required because the
   MakeIcon tool creates all neccessary icons and tooltypes from the FAME
   Settings, so you have the right setup to use the Amiex doors under FAME.
   Look in the MakeIcon documentation how to use this tool.

If you follow these steps, you shall have no problems during the System
changing. Please read ALL documents of ALL tools/doors before using them,
or major problems may occure to your existing system!
