I. THE THEORIES OF GUILT (100%) I.1. THE CLASSICAL THEORY OJ was at Bundy. He did the murders alone. Modifications: - Premeditated murder: OJ knew the buzzer didn't work to let people in; - Premeditated murder: OJ walked out of the condo with Nicole; - "Opportunistic killing" theory: OJ would kill her sooner or later. He kept stalking until he got a good chance; - No premeditation: OJ initially came to stalk Nicole, Goldman was killed first (in a jealous rage). - Money as OJ's motive: based on Barbara Walters' report on the alimony OJ allegedly paid Nicole; something that OJ denies in his book. Problems: the mysterious second car in the driveway at Rockingham, the thumps, the narrow time frame, why take one glove, apparent lack of the blood trail to the glove. Problems concerned with the issue of premeditation: how was OJ going to lure Nicole out, etc. I.2. THE ACCOMPLICE THEORY OJ was at Bundy. He had an accomplice. Modifications: - The accomplice helped OJ to kill the victims; - The accomplice only assisted with the cleanup and helped to dispose of the evidence. Problems: the motive, the thumps I.3. THE HIRED KNIFE THEORY OJ wasn't there, but he knows who did it. Maybe, he hired the real killers. The police set him up, because they thought he was behind the crime. Modifications: - OJ did show up at Bundy to check out the results of the hit. Problems: the blood evidence, the thumps II. THE THEORIES OF INNOCENCE (100%) II.1. THE "HOME ALONE" THEORY OJ was at home. He didn't do it. Modifications: - The "old blood" theory: the blood matching OJ is older than the rest of the evidence found at Bundy. - The police frame-up theory: the police set Simpson up. - The Fuhrman theory: Fuhrman did it. Then planted the glove at Rockingham. Then found it there in the morning. Problems: why would the police conspire to frame OJ? are they all racists or what? if not Simpson, then who (* -see below)? For the Fuhrman theory: the motive; what if Mark has an alibi? II.2. THE "INNOCENT WITNESS" THEORY OJ was at Bundy. He didn't do the slayings. Left some blood at the scene. The Real Killer(s) brought the glove to Rockingham to frame Simpson. The police decided that OJ was guilty. They placed some OJ's blood from the vial onto the glove on Rockingham, some blood of the victims into the Bronco; maybe, tampered with the socks, too, thus completing the frame-up to increase their chances to pull out a conviction. Modifications: - The gloves belong to Simpson. He finds the bodies, takes off the left-hand glove (thus reinjuring his finger), gets scared, escapes. - OJ walks out of the condo to find the bodies (the "kind guest" theory). - The gate is closed when Simpson appears at the scene, so he injures his finger while opening the gate. Problems: Simpson's police interview, the kids in the condo (why would he abandon them alone? chickened?), the second car (could it belong to the real killer, still on the property? - very unlikely), how did OJ injure his finger? why did he go to Bundy? if not Simpson, then who killed the victims (* -see below)? (*) IF NOT SIMPSON, THEN WHO? Drug-related hit, a business deal that turned bad, the "wicked guest" {"ice-cream man", "mommy's best friend", Marcus Allen}, a "Menendez brother" {Jason}, white supremacists and/or Fuhrman, someone hired by {Paula Barbieri - jealosy; Jason and/or Arnelle - money; Keith and/or Faye - drugs; Denise - her rivalry with Nicole}, burglar(s), random violence. III. THE THEORIES OF GUILT (50%) AND INNOCENCE (50%) III.1. THE COVER-UP THEORY OJ knows who did it. He covers up for The Real Killer(s) {Jason, AC, Marcus Allen}. Problems: the blood evidence, the police interview, etc. III.2. THE SELF-DEFENSE THEORY Who had the motive? If OJ were killed, Nicole would benefit. The IRS letter wouldn't be sent, her kids would inherit part of his millions. So she trapped him (her note found with the tapes was part of the entrapment) and attempted to kill him with a knife. If she were successful, she would claim it was self-defense. She'd refer to their prior conflicts, Simpson's having a knife collection, etc. Some of her prior actions were supposed to create the impression that OJ was after her. Alas, she failed to surprise Simpson, he went in a rage and killed her. Goldman showed up and attacked OJ without clear understanding of what happened. Furious OJ killed him, too. The rest is as in the classic theory. Problems: so where's the evidence he was entrapped? III.3. THE RAPE ATTEMPT THEORY Goldman tried to rape Nicole at the knife-point. OJ showed up, so Goldman slashed Nicole. OJ killed Goldman in the subsequent struggle. The rest is as in the classic theory. Problems: where's the evidence that Goldman was going to attack Nicole? why did OJ come to Bundy? A few theories have modifications with respect to who brought The Glove to Rockingham (OJ, Fuhrman, or Yet Another Killer). Enjoy! Dmitri
