SkyFish2DLG - (c) 1993 M. Lucini Hi! I wrote this small utility to fix the problem with the description of the FishDisk files that we receive on the SAN network. What does this programm do? Well, it looks for a description file with the suffix .txt and uses it as a real filedescription. Kick 2.0 or higher is required to run this proggi. The options... *The options ARE case sensitive!* You can run Sky2DLG with 2 options: KEEPTXT: With this option enabled, the programm doesn`t delete the #?.txt description file. Usefull for people like me who are forwarding the files to other nodes. You`ll then have to delete them manually , once in a while. By default the #?.txt descriptions are deleted. FINDBRACKET: With this option enabled, SkyFish2DLG looks for a closing bracket (]) before inserting the description in the file.dat file. Why? We receive the file with this description: .... 517 TEXTREAD.LHA 49k [767] TextRead - Archive ... Now, I would like to keep the [767] in the quick description of the file... In that case, use the FINDBRACKET option. You`ll have an output like this: 517 TEXTREAD.LHA 49k [767] TextRead - A nice, fast, text file reader w... otherwise you would see something like this: 517 TEXTREAD.LHA 49k TextRead - A nice, fast, text file reader with ... By default, this option is disabled. ************************************************************************ SkyFish2DLG does even something more to the description text. Look: This is the original description text: --- cut --- AniMan AniMan combines Amiga animation, speech synthesis, and voice recognition, to provide you with an animated talking head that will run any Amiga program by voice command. I hope this word exists :-)) (Look at the exemple above, at the re-quired word.) *That`s all! SkyFish2DLG doesn't renumber your file area. Known bugs! It eats up 144 bytes of memory each time you run it.... Dunno why. (I compiled it with Maxon's C++ compiler). If somebody has any suggestions... It`s the only one... It works well on my system. I don`t know his behaviour on 68000 based systems, I`m using a 68030. It supports alternate paths. (If I understood what alternate paths are. ) If you thing it doesn`t, please tell me how alternate paths works... That`s all folks! I hope that it will work well on your system too... If it doesn`t, I hope it won`t corrupt your beloved FishDisk filearea... Don`t notice the output of SkyFish2DLG... Better you redirect it to > NIL: It`s only for debugging purpose... Future: * Yeah, a faster version... * Automatical renumber of the filearea... Bye! P.S: If you have any suggestion, critic or ... write me!
