Installation: DLGBlu01.lha contains: - ReadMe.orGURU this file - DLGBlue the utility - DLGBlue.BBS configuration file - CClib.library required file 1) copy CClib.library to libs:. 2) edit DLGBlue.BBS. The 1st 2 lines are your name then your alias that you use on the BBS. Use Lower or UPPER case just as your BBS does. The rest of the file consists of many 2 liners. The 1st line is the Message Area #. The 2nd line is EXACTLY what the BBS calls the Message Area. These 2 lines are repeated for EACH Message area that the BBS has. It may be easier to sign-on the BBS and buffer ALL message area #'s and names. This file only has to be made as often as the SYSOP changes them. 3) IMPORTANT!!! You MUST place DLGBlue.BBS and a file called DLGMSGS.txt in RAM:. The program WILL GURU if either of these are missing. DLGMSGS.txt is the output from the DLG Message Packing utility that you have downloaded and unarced. 4) The 4 files DLGMSGS with the extensions: .inf, .fti, .mix, and .dat; are the completed results of this program. 5) You can either pack up the 4 files with the name DLGMSGS using your favorite archive utility and then read the bundle as normal BlueWave mail. (This take a long time to arc and then have the reader unarc). An alternative, you can fool the reader into thinking it arced them successfully. Here's what I do for Q-Blue. I make sure there are NO mail packets in the in-coming mail directory. I move the 4 files to the reader work directory. I send an OPEN arc request to Q-Blue and since it can't find any arcs it then pops up a file requester. I send the file requester to my work directory, I select ANY of the files with the name DLGMSGS. The program say that it not a (BrandX) archive and asks if you'd like to try (BrandY). After I answered 'yes', I wait for the error as it trying to unarc a non-arc file. Q-Blue doesn't know this and proceedes to look in the work directory for DLGMSGS.inf, which it finds... and away you go. Limitations: This program can only handle 16,777,216 lines. Smile, I hope that's enough! Message recieved, and message threading is currently not supported. The program WILL GURU if DLGBlue.BBS and DLGMSGS.txt are NOT in RAM:. CCLib.library must be in the LIBS: directory. This is a requirement of my C compiler. I am looking for another compiler. TYPE DLGMSGS.BBS opt H will let you know if you have Stephen Wright or Stephen Wright. This DOES matter. The same exactness must be used for the Message Area names. Enjoy. Stephen Wright - Sept 12, 1992 History: Ever since I've had my hands on my 1st off-line reader... I have become spoiled. I don't like to read mail online anymore. My local DLG BBS didn't have an offline reader. It did allow for packing of messages in ascii format, so I started the task to write ANOTHER offline reader. I had a simple reader available... and then started to kick myself. Why would anyone want to use MY reader just for one BBS format. This seemed silly. Now I decided to convert the ascii formatted text into a standard mail packet format. Since I use Q-Blue 0.7, QWK or BlueWave format were formats I could use. After some work, I deciphered BlueWave format and started work on this DLG text to BlueWave packet conversion utility, DLGBlue.
